sharks aren’t giving you the best D in hockey this year retain 4 mil for the next 5 years for a midget D and a 1st next year.

laugh Grier isn't retaining no $20,000,000 on Erik Karlsson for a smurf Dman and a 2024 1st round pick. Need to offer far better than that.

And i'm pretty sure already that Semyon Valarmov said no to waiving for Buffalo.

I’d argue he isn’t the best d man in hockey, but that’s besides the point. Calling Bryson a “midget d” is disrespectful to his game. Also ur not getting a first in the 2023 draft for Karlsson, because like it or not his contract is still terrible even with retention. Nobody wants to risk getting stuck with Karlsson if he regresses. No one.

His wife is from Texas, but Dallas doesn’t need a backup. That being said if he left my bet would be that it’s for Texas.

Hawks say no. Just send over the Philly 2023 2nd instead and it's a deal. Goalie is not a major prospect need for the Hawks.

The leading Norris candidate at $7.5 mil is not a bad contract, just stop

It isn’t a bargain given his age and the fact he’s made of glass

Leading Norris candidate? Yeah not gonna lie, I don’t buy that at all. Partially cause of that play against Minnesota where he tripped over the blue line, but mainly cause of the fact that he couldn’t guard a parked car.

Only 54 points in 40 games. On pace for over 100 points as a dman. Sure he’s not the leading Norris candidate because that happens all the time right? Only hasn’t happened since Brian Leetch did it 30 years ago. But yes, continue to say he isn’t the leading Norris candidate

I’ve never been a fan of players who aren’t defenseman winning the Norris.

Karlsson has put up some historic numbers during his career, and he’s going to be a first ballot hall of famer. That being said he’s put up most of these numbers on truly terrible teams. Not saying that his points r all empty calories, but I do think it should be part of the discussion.

1 EK is not what we need.

2 Adding a goalie is a good idea but he wouldn’t be my first choice

3 Max Domi does nothing for us.

I would say it’s the opposite and that he’s putting up tons of points on sh*t teams with nobody else to help him out and put the puck in the net. The amount of times the past couple seasons he would make a hall of fame pass for a tap in goal or great opportunity and some sharks bum would fumble with it.

I legit said his points aren’t empty calories. I’m just saying his style of play has greatly helped his individual numbers while his team continues to lose games. That’s legit it.

yea 7.5 mil a year (with your retention) for a defenseman who has 50+ points in 40 games is terrible.
and the guy has 2 norris trophies so this isn’t a fluke like your hinting at!

Neve said it was a fluke. I said he puts up great individual stats on losing teams. And that he’s made of ****ing glass.

Btw I think Buffalo should be interested in him…. Just not at this price. I’d want a deal more similar to the burns trade tbh.

the difference between those two is Karlsson is 32 and Burns was 37 going on 38 with 3 more years on his deal.
And Karlsson is the better player and your asking for more retention here. 23 or 24 1st 2 decent prospects and no more than 2.5 mil retention is the min sharks should be willing to retain on Karlsson IMO, and he was a beast on the Senators playoff runs if you can remember back.

He was good for the sens. That being said that doesn’t justify this asking price. Even if he’s way younger than burns, he is also way smaller. It’s a lot easier to age gracefully as a d man when ur 6-5.

But Karlsson is still decent heigh weight at 6’. and the end of his contact is age 36 season not 41 5 years is a lot in the NHL age game

Sure would make it fun having Karlsson on that Buffalo blueline. Tough to see what kind of package would get it done. Bad contract and injury issues hurt that deal.
