How big of a delusional fantasy can one person dream up? Cause this is all nonsensical.

Detroit 100% passes, Cossa isn't available. I'm not even sure that Yzerman would even move Hronek for Horvat. Since we don't even have a RD replacement for him within the organization.

Here's the problem I see with all of the recent Thatcher-Demko-to-Los-Angeles trade ideas:

Demko was horrible this year, almost undoubtedly due to his injury. When he returns from rehabbing that injury, and plays the last third of the season, one of two things will happen:

1. Either he will display his earlier form, in which case why would Vancouver trade him; or
2. He will not show any improvement, in which case why would Los Angeles want him?

Steve Yzerman isn't paying the equivalent of three firsts and a top-half second for rental Bo Horvat. I think that the most he would go is the two draft picks. And before anyone says, "But Alex DeBrincat got a first, a second, and a third," DeBrincat was a RFA, not a UFA.

Not sure Boeser could return Mukhamadullin or Mercer, let alone both of them. Would probably just be a pick.

That Mercer trade is the worst of them all. The trade with the Wings looks fair in comparison to the Mercer trade (which it absolutely in no instance is fair).

What precedence is there for a team trading a 1st round goalie before their 21st birthday? Seriously, it is rare to see ANY goalie get moved before the age of 24, let alone 21.

Detroit are not trading for Horvat, it makes ZERO sense.

Trading those assets is a move you make when you're RIGHT there to compete for a cup, not just trying to make the playoffs. Drafting and developing is where your stars come from (Seider, Raymond) and if you get lucky, you land a big fish in FA occasionally. Even the FA angle isn't always great, because you're paying for what players have done in the past, not what they WILL do, which further emphasizes the need to hit on drafting and development.

Hopefully Kasper, Edvinsson, Wallinder and Cossa all turn into what we all think they will be and then we're doing pretty well. Then, if you get lucky on guys like Mazur, Hanas, etc, then we're in REALLY good shape.

Trading for and THEN paying a boat load to a guy who is having a career year (during a contract year, at an unsustainable ~22% shooting percentage) and would be in his mid 30s at the end of the contract is not great asset management.

Don't get me wrong, I like Horvat, but as a FA target, not as a trade target. Roll the dice he makes it to UFA and take our shot then, if not, so be it.
