Gavrikov can find a home elsewhere. No real interest in him

It's funny how most team's fans say they don't want Gavi and yet there are at least 10 teams interested in him after the announced ask of a 1st and 3rd. At least scouts are smart enough to see that he's a 2LD being played as a 1LD so his stats are not reflective of his skill.

1) Need a 1st rather than a 2nd in the Gavrikov deal, perhaps downgrading the 3rd if Bahl is included.

2) Saville is... fine? Think the pick would need to be 2023, though.

3) Korpi is way more valuable than this. Think 2023 3rd, and you're in the ballpark.

4) CBJ can't afford to give up their 2nd-rounder; it's basically another 1st-rounder, given how high they're likely to pick. This isn't a move they NEED to make. I don't hate it, but it doesn't scream out as a must-do move.

My guess is those 10 teams are also interested in McCabe, Murphy, Chychrun, Klingberg, etc. It doesn't mean there's a 10 team bidding war for Gavy and he's guaranteed to bring back Jarmo's asking price.

Nah, Gavi is specifically getting higher interest because of his cap hit. If the Jackets retain 50% he's gonna cost about $650k to add at the TDL. That's insane value for a 2LD and teams that are actual cup contenders rarely get to look at that quality of player without having to make big changes to their lineup. Experts are expecting him to get a *better* return than what the Jackets initially were asking for.

edmonton already has good goaltending. Would still take merzlikins though.

Thx, I think thats a good move for us. Severson will be gone to FA, not sure what we/Graves does about FA. Luke and Nemec should not just be thrown into 3rd pairings out of the shoot (maybe Luke handles it). But to regress in a year we need to build from this one is not good. His cap hit is great, fits the bill of what we need a little more grit and another defensive defensemen, that will help Luke do his thing. I'll have Fitz call Jarmo!
