Trying to Make Everything Work

Created by: koofyslappa
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 17, 2023
Published: Mar. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Big If - If Bergeron and Krejci come back. I think that either they both come back or both leave after this year. I can't see one or the other retiring, I think both make the same move whether it is retiring or going for another run.

Sell high on Ullmark, not sure what the market would looks like for a top goalie. Most likely a Vezina winning goalie too.

Going to be difficult to keep Bertuzzi and Orlov. Both get term but most likely not the AAV they'd like. I'd say they sign elsewhere for more money. Would stink to see that considering how much was given up for them.

Zacha becomes the third line center, Frederic the fourth.

Hathaway takes a hometown discount. Clifton takes a bit less but gets term. Zboril gets a bottom pairing role.

Quick joins the team for a couple of years as a backup to Swayman. Becomes another mentor to the young goalie. Quick joins the Bruins in hopes of making another run. Wouldn't be surprised if he retires though or resigns elsewhere for more maybe? Not sure.

Just some thoughts and ideas. It would be great to keep those added at the deadline but we shall see. Let me know what you think.

Going into a season with 30k in cap space is a bold strategy. But Koofy is a bold person. Is 'bold' the right word?

Sharks aren't close to contending, why do they give up a first that's likely going to be top 10? Also Ullmark is playing behind what is probably the league's best defense, at the very least top 5. It would make it so Boston's ask would be too high for teams to take a risk on. Seems more likely that Boston trades Swayman. Then again, Chicago is so clearly deliberately tanking, yet trades a first round pick for a 3rd line center? A) I think Coyle would be the #1 center on that team and B) makes no sense for a rebuilding team.

What a great price for... *Checks notes* Charlie Coyle... So nice of you to trade him to CHI for such a fair amount.

ya... SJ is not the team who is going to give up a likely top 5 pick for anything. By the time Linus' contract is up, the Sharks will probably still not be in the playoffs.

Thank you for commenting first (and much nicer than my response was going to be).

Keep Dreaming. Really think the Hawks give up a first for Coyle, and still finish out of the playoffs? Ullmark has a NMC....yep he's waiving to a non playoff team

Ullmark's NMC turns into a M-NTC after this season.

No one would accept these trades. Maybe Pittsburgh.

There is NO chance San Jose moves a likely top 5 pick for a goalie having an outlier year who will be 30 with just two years to ufa. No goalie is worth a top 5 pick honestly

nobody on the planet is going to give up a first for coyle and i like coyle but no chance , to dump his cap i'd say the first is going the wrong way . too low on freddie and swayman

You're right but it's so easy to list teams that don't need a goalie or are so near the cap that can't take on Ullmark's full cap.
