The NHL seriously needs to rework the kicking-motion rule. There is zero consistency. The absolutely electric Leafs Rangers game ended on a terrible note after the game tying goal at 1.2 seconds for the Rangers was declared a kicking motion (even though it clearly wasn't). Gotta be the dumbest rule in hockey

mmm no it was a kicking motion per the rules

Remember when AM and JT goal was denied they were less than that

Just because someone else was robbed of a goal off of a similarly bad call doesn't justify the rule. Distinct kicking motion in my eyes is a soccer kick. The rule is so dumb, the fact that there are frequent arguments about it just illustrates how vague and dumb it is. Can't have a rule that leaves so much upto the refs interpretation. Completely ruins the game. I remember Austin Watson scored a goal against the Leafs last year that was very clearly a kicking motion, yet it was ruled a goal. I can pick and choose a ton of these goals that were called back / allowed despite being scored in the same way. The rule is just straight up stupid.

It’s game 7 of an elimination game, your opponent has a breakaway and Tristan Jarry is the goalie between hockey life and hockey death. Are you confident?

Canes-Isles should be a good matchup. I'd put the canes odds at 55% chance to win and isles 45%. It would obviously be much higher for the canes if they had svechnikov and Paccioretty,

Canes have the edge on D, arguably the best D core in the league right now. Isles have the far superior goaltender.

Canes have the slight edge at forward, but this isles team (assuming Barzal is ready for game 1) is a lot different than any isles team in the past 5 years with the Horvat, Engvall and Fasching adds. The isles have 3 lines that can drive play at an elite level and score goals. Isles top 9 has the better offensive forwards, canes have the better defensive forwards.

My early guess is Isles in 6.

If the NHL allowed that goal. Then the rule would need to be examined as lesser kicks were deemed no goals.

Watch the clip Chytil kicks it

Thats pretty distinct right there.

Now could the rule one day be rectified or changed sure but stuff like above is pretty evident on why the current standards are in place.

Jack Hughes 99 points frown

I hate it when players get so close and barely miss the milestone

Who’s the shooter? Or at least is the shooter good, bad, or average on breakaways

It will be interesting to see how much the series is affected by goaltending.

If Anaheim loses tonight they will have the best odds for drafting Bedard.

Mctavish/Bedard/Zegras/Terry is an insane forward core

Go one better

Zegras 1c
Bedard 2c
McTavish 3c
Gauncher 4c

That is an insanely good young center core to build around

I would move Mctavish to 1LW if they get Bedard. He’s the most ideal candidate to move to wing because he’s a shooter

Oilers win their 9th straight which means if the Kraken beat the Knights in regulation they win the division (and possible the conference if the Avs lose tomorrow) and face the Jets in round 1 but if that doesn't happen they face the Kings in round 1, either way they have home ice for the first round.

I don't know how to feel as I want the Oilers to win the division (and possibly the conference) for the first time since the 80's but I think I would rather face the Kings over Jets as Hellebuyck scares me and Korpisalo and/or Copley don't scare me at all, plus last year proved they could beat the Kings (-Fiala +Quick) but last time they faced the Jets and Hellebuyck they got swept

also Skinner just broke Grant Fuhr franchise record for wins by a goalie with 29 wins

Personally I would want to avoid the Kings so here’s to hoping the Oilers win the division.
