3 guys from this absolute nightmare that are on the playoff roster.

Looking at this I now fully understand how the Devils got so many lottery picks.

He's 24. Imagine this guy's injury issues when he's 30 y.o.

Unlucky at first. Injuries also stack up. Concussions for example.

Some people are just made of glass. You can train and condition your body to be as injury prone as possible, but for some reason it still finds players. You think about everybody thats ever played in the show, dudes who hardly get injured their whole career are the exception not the rule. Incredible how a guy like Kessel can do such a thing. Has to do with playstyle, your preparedness and a fair amount of genetic luck. I can't explain the genes behind it, don't even know if it's a real thing. But I would imagine people have weaker tendons, muscles and bones. Easier to get injured and can't recover as fast? Having so many injuries before your 25 is however a massive cause for concern.

Funny, we had a similar chat a couple of weeks back on a forum...
1) Unlucky...yes
2) Conditioning...yes. Personal lack of training all the muscle groups essential to hockey:
* Doug Risebrough only cycled for his off season training when w/ CAL - within a week his 'hammies' were toast, months of IR to follow.
* IRONMAN Phil Kessel HOT-DOG training???????????????
3) The team's H&S-crew...yes (I think the team health & safety experts is under-reported for it's value)
4) Style of play...yes:
* Chris Tanev is always injured - but he plays uber-hard.
* O. Kase is always injured from concussions unfortunately - but it seems more like he is reckless/lack of self-awareness/preservation.
