Hmmm I would say it's close. I'm not a fan of Petry but I also understand we have a home to fill, a young kid that needs mentorship and the need for high end young talent. I would say take a second out. Only way I would keep both seconds in there is of we got another one somewhere.

This is blowing up. I don't want to be involved in the fighting but I think this is an interesting (and likely fair) trade, IF Det thinks Petry has value (which I do).

If the wings were able to pick 9, 14 & 18 in a draft this deep, surely they can fill any holes in their prospect pool. Those seconds are very valuable but still having 1 in addition to those firsts is not bad. All depends how we value Petry. Worst case is he plays this year and we give up on him. But even so the wings would have the cap space the following year not to worry about it

All things considered Petry's situation is near perfect to take advantage of.
He's a Michigan boy with a NMC, he's probably retiring in 2 years, and getting a 1st with him shouldn't be too tough.

It is quite a perfect situation to the Wings to take advantage of as it gives us a RD prospect from this draft and a bridge defenseman.

If taking on the corpse of Petry buys a 1st, I'm on board. Even this price, which I think is WAY too much considering the cap AND real world money owed, I wouldn't get too mad about in this draft, all things considered.
