They're just draft picks, and a single prospect overshadowed by many others in the org, it's a fair trade. A solid prospect like Johansson, NYI 1st, Detroit 2nd rounder this year, and next year 3rd rounder is absolutely fair. You can take out 3rd rounder this year.

Big overpay for cat look at what fiala got last year, and he was coming off a better season. Johansson and the isles first is fair, keep a 3rd if they really play hardball. That’s wayyyyy undervaluing Swayman though

Boston will run into cap space trouble. Faber is better than Johansson.

Cat is a rental. He'll get a rental return. He's not getting back what Dorion paid for him.

He's still a RFA, if he makes it clear he wants to test free agency, sure rental return. Even then, we can just keep him and trade him at TDeadline for more.

We don’t need a LD. We have enough to cover the next 25 years

A rental return is a playoff 1st and a B prospect. I know Wings fans are high on Johansson but the issue is that he isn’t a position of need in the organization for the Sens

I’m very high on Faber as I’ve always been. To me Faber was an A- prospect . I didn’t even think LA we’re gonna move him

You should just keep Cat. On CFACGM you're going to see nothing but lowball joke trade offers. Good thing it's nothing close to actual player value.

OTT is not trading Cat to a divisional rival unless it is a massive overpay.

AJ is also an A- prospect. I'd also prefer to keep him in Detroit. He is NHL ready.

Ok but Ottawa paid a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd for DeBrincat coming off a 41 goal and 78 point season. So why should Detroit pay more when DeBrincat is coming off a 27 goal and 66 point season?

he may be NHL ready but he is low in the depth chart. There's like 4-5 guys ahead of him at LD

Because uhhhhh..18OA+Johannson+a 3rd is equal to 7OA despite
A) Johansson is B+ prospect,
B) 7OA in '22 is as good as 16OA in this year's draft
C) Throw in the 3rd because taxes are high in Ottawa

Then we have to take into account; his contract is more (let's ignore how he got worse.)
More expensive= cooler player!

If this trade happens it's going to be less than Ottawa wants and more than Detroit wants. I have no problem adding Johansson in a package to get Cat. When I was looking at Ottawa's roster they have Chabot and Sanderson on the Left side so I can't see Johansson moving the needle much

.

But he is in-between 5 and 7 on Detroit prospect rankings.

And guess what? There are 30 other teams boston could trade with.

Swayman isn’t moving, ullmark would be the first goalie shipped out for cap purposes. This is a delusionally bad offer.

Ok so Chicago took Kevin Korchinski with that 1st . So if Kevin Korchinski was in this years draft where would he fit in?

Like last season I think he would be the 3rd best Dman in the draft,

Korchinski had a strong +1, however in his draft season, I would not take him in the top 20. Heck many are arguing if Dragicevic deserves to be a 1st rounder, and I'd definitely take Drag's draft season over Korchinski's draft season.

I agree. I wasn’t that high on Korchinski , like great player but I see him as a Chabot type Dman with that ceiling
