For that price yes. But I still have bad memories of Ceci in Toronto.

Except for the problem that our bottom 6 is already overflowing with players. We don't have room for Foegele.

Interesting idea, but the Canes value cap flexibility too much to handicap themselves. They’d have to truly believe that Campbell was THE guy and they could rehabilitate him. I doubt it.

They have too many key players up for extensions in the next few seasons to make this move now.

Campbell is a career backup who looked good for a couple months as a starter before looking like a backup again. Canes value cap flexibility more than anything, and as both Toronto and Edmonton have found that, Soup isn’t the guy.

Poor trades, all of them. And Severson isn't an upgrade on Ceci.

That's one thing I'll give Dubas credit for. He knew what he had in Campbell and wasn't willing to pay him what he wanted.

I don't mind the trade but why wouldn't Detroit just sign Severson for the same or better deal?

I think the Wings would be smart to take that Soup deal as long as they could plug some cap into it. Cossa will not be NHL ready for 3/4 years and is signed for 2 more years. Similar to cap dumps of Bailey, Myers or Reilly. Not doing the Zaitsev deal when we needed a RHD is kind of dumb -- we'd have 4 straight picks (41-44) in this years 2nd round.

Detroit wouldn't sign Severson for 6x6 as he will be 34 at the end, not sure he fits their timeline as well as trading for a younger Dman or waiting 2/3 years and signing a better Dman in UFA.

I don't think it will take nearly that much to move Campbell. The UFA goalie class is pretty weak this year, I can see a team taking him on for a mid round pick. There are also rumors that he will be a key piece going to SJ in a Karlsson trade. They tried to get something done at the deadline but it just didn't work. SJ could use a veteran goalie to help them through the rebuild. I could see the trade being something like Campbell, Ceci, 1st and a B Prospect for Karlsson at around 9 million.
