Kinda surprised he signed. Seemed like the yearly going back to college signaled him heading to FA.

Of course I'm disappointed, but I wish him all the best.

Probs signed him just to trade him rather than get less for only his rights

Good for BUF. I was convinced he'd be a goner.

Haha! Where is that person that said "worst-kept secret is Johnson not signing in BUF"

This is huge for BUF. Defensive depth is gladly welcomed and he has the chance to climb up the depth chart to play with Power.

Most importantly, BUF is getting players that want to play in BUF and more and more players are wanting to play in BUF.

NHL watch out...might not be 2023-24. Might not be 2024-25. But 2025 and beyond. Scary good.

Getting him inked is so big. Way better than some 2nd round comp. pick.

I mean a check for $92,500 and a chance to get that 3rd pairing D-spot over Stillman, Clague, or Bryson isn't bad either.

If this dude makes the NHL this year, you can blow me up, but I don't think he ever becomes a full time NHL player.

Most likely plays with ROC next year, and is an injury call-up. But there is no reason to think he isn't at least a 3rd pairing guy, with potential to play with Power.

Buffalo has no room on that blue line for him. Signing a deal makes it easier to be moved we have seen it happen numerous times

Dubois for instance signed to make it easier for Columbus to move him.

I'm sorry what? BUF lacks D-men.

Dubois was drafted in 2016 and played 239 games with CBJ. So yea, if you mean he plays 239 games and gets moved, umm okay.

Next caller.

Awesome!

That Gopher blueline has been second to none over last couple of years. I am a believer in RyJo (and Faber, and Lacombe, and Koster…think all will be NHLers).

Unreal signing! I had written him off as a cut-your-losses situation. He's such an amazing skater, transitional defenseman. Gonna be a stud that every team wishes they would have. He'll shore up the 3rd pair sooner than later and help our GA immensely with his smart way of playing

Easier to trade his rights (like Arizona and McBain, Smith last year). No similar prospect has ever been signed, then traded.

Reading of his signing knocked my socks off.
Kudus to the Sabre Management team, this IS HUGE!
At the start of the season he will 11 weeks older than McCabe when Jake became a full time LHD for the Sabres.

While we all are intensely watching Kulich, Murry, Rosen and Rousek in Rochester, Pilut is having a strong playoff.
After 11 games he has 3 goals, 9 points and his +9 is the best on the team.
This follows his 28 pts in 47 regular season games.
He does have a Swedish connection with Dahlin.

Defensemen take longer to develop and Power, Samuelsson, Dahlin and Jokijarju should all be better next year with one more year of experience.
