Bouchard AND a first, for a one year rental player. Oilers pass. I like Pesce for the oilers but not at that cost.

Pesce is great, but Bouchard + a 1st seems like too much

Not really... it helps your defense significantly and Bouchard only has one year of being a pretty good player. What's your idea of a Pesce-Oilers trade?

Bouchard is worth more than Pesce alone.... even with an extension. And I love Pesce as a player.

I'd disagree... Pesce is a shutdown defenseman who can contribute a little to the offense... he'd be a perfect fit in Edmonton

I mean I get that sentiment but I'd also counter with...
Drasitl and McDavid aren't getting any younger and Pesce is a better player now and helps fixes a massive hole on your team
I'd agree dropping the first is a reasonable compromise

    Very generous😅. It’s not that big of a problem ($600 K this, $2M next); not worth near a 1st never mind a 1st + 😂

C’mon man, Pesce is a solid top 4 defenseman. But this valuation is out of whack.

I do too and I think the Hurricanes could stand to get a little younger on the defensive side and Bouchard I think is a perfect candidate given his age and where the Oilers are as a team

I think from an Oilers perspective, one would more sooner trade Broberg, 1st round pick and another higher level prospect in hopes he would sign a 4 or 5 year deal at a "reasonable' cap hit. I am a big fan of Pesce and would love to see him in orange and blue... Also to note, he is a tree, exactly what Kenny likes.

I can see why you'd rather trade Broberg but he's much more of a gamble considering his lack of NHL experience... I think he plays up until the trade deadline on the Oilers then I think it be a much more palatable trade to Hurricanes brass

Completely fair! You seem like a reasonable thinker. I think best course of action is to play Broberg in the minors for 20-30 games and play 20-25 minutes a night in all situations. I think that would definitely help his progression and value, especially if he can stay healthy

A first might be a reasonable price for Carolina to ask
for from Toronto but it is a hefty price that the Leafs shouldn't pay. You have them paying a 1st and a 3rd. The Leafs are better off carrying 3 goalies and playing Murray until he regains some value and can be moved or the more likely scenario, until he gets hurt.

For sure... He seems like he needs just a little bit more time down in the minors before he's ready to take a NHL role and if he's doing all right at the NHL level by the time the trade deadline then I think the Hurricanes might be willing to deal for him considering if he doesn't work out we still have a couple of elite prospects waiting in the wings

Bouchard doesn’t do anything for us. Are we trading Chatfield then to get another big bodied RHD? Who is going to cover Skjei?

I mean it allows your team almost $5m in extra cap space for a team that only has $10m to sign 6 contracts
