Carter says no. That Gibson trade is terrible for PIT if he isn't great.

I like Stankoven, but I think you could maybe get a bit more for Guentzel.
Hate moving a first for Gibson. Man has not performed since 2019. I know a better team may help, but still very worrisome to move a 1st for a non-guarantee.
Carter will not waive.

It's a pick a year from now that will be in the 25 range of the round given how good Dallas is. The realistic expectation of that pick is a middle of the lineup player that sees NHL ice in 2026 or 2027.

I don't see how that is unreasonable for a starting goal tender playing 60+ games for the next four seasons. It boils down to you either like Gibson or you don't.

FWIW, that trade sucks for Anaheim. The Pens would need to replace that meh AHL backup goal tender with an actual asset of value at a minimum.

No matter how you say it, it is still a first round pick. If we are going to give up a 1st for a goalie, I would much rather add a bit and get Hellebuyck, Saros, Ullmark, who have cheaper deals and are not signed as long.
I like Gibson, and him playing for his hometown team would be fun, but 4 years at $6.4M is a giant risk in my opinion.

Lol, you offer sheet a player from NYR and then think they’ll be open to a trade with you? 🤣🤣🤣 You’d be fired after dropping a first for Gibson, he’s washed and then someone, playing for that trash franchise ruined him.

That's all fair, like I said you either like Gibson enough or you don't. Anaheim has zero pressure to trade the guy so if he stays a Duck probably the only one unhappy about it is Gibson himself. Myself, I'm perfectly happy to see him in the crease in Anaheim. He can eat a billion pucks again like last season.

I respect the creativeness, but big pass on Gibson.

Would rather take the 1st you're getting and trade for Saros/Ullmark

The timeline doesn’t work for Dallas from a cap perspective. Adding $6M this offseason is tough enough as it is, but Dallas isn’t really going to have the necessary cap space next offseason to give Guentzel the extension he’s going to be looking for.

Dallas is going to be pretty reliant on guys like Johnston, Stankoven, and even Bourque to provide reliable, cheap, scoring options for the team while they’re on their ELCs. Until Benn’s contract is up, I’m not sure Dallas is the best fit for any player that’s going to want big-money in the near future.

Oh I totally love Lafreniere, but I do think he needs a change of scenery. I’ve followed him since juniors (mostly cause I love the Oceanic cause of Sid) and I feel like NY never put him in the proper position to succeed in their system.

Fair enough haha. All I ever hear is he’s a bust or he’s the French yakupov. I really hope Laviolette gives him a chance to succeed

oilers pass.

they would have 0 interest in either of those players and would be better off with foegele and yamo.
