You’re correct on Fabbri, Copp, Kubalik & Hanas.

Wrong on Perron, Husso and Zadina.

Perron will be one of the hottest names at the deadline and can certainly add value to playoff teams. He would fetch at the bare minimum a 2nd AND 3rd round pick.

Husso played as good as any goaltender in the league not named a Vezina finalist last year, idc what the numbers may say. Our defense was terrible in front of him and he did not waver. He won’t be traded and as soon as he has a solid defense in front of him, he’ll get the respect he deserves.

Zadina certainly will likely never live up to his draft status but he is a more than serviceable hockey player. He’s not a top 6 guy but he’ll be in the league for a while as a bottom 6 guy that could break out for a 20 goal season in his career. I suppose based on where he was drafted you could certainly get away with labeling him a bust. Still a decent hockey player tho.

I have a genuine question, I know he wasn't a top 10 pick, but why doesn't anyone ever talk about Veleno? I seem to remember him being a pretty big deal along with Zadina back when they were draft. It's always about Zadina now.

I've begun to notice how frugal wings fans are. Excess of prospects and picks, but they are completely unwilling to budge on anything. Rebuild mindset often leads to spec and pick hoarding. I understand the frustration lol

Higher you're picked, the more is expected of you. In hindsight scouts obviously knew about veleno to let him "slip by".

It’s also frustrating because Ottawa, Detroit and Buffalo are all in the same level of range. Giving one of your good players to the other one and not getting anything that will directly help you next year is a loss

I would personally rather target 2 middle 6Fs and no 1st round pick. Like the rumoured Vilardi + Iafallo would be so perfect for ottawa or even a lighter version in Tomasino + Sissons. We need a 2nd liner, 3rd liner and cap space for a goalie

No one talks about how Veleno, Rasmussen and Zadina were developed . Rasmussen looks pretty good now but he wasn’t much for so long. He was till a top 10 pick which you expect highly of

I think with Rasmussen though, he probably gets the big C execuse of taking extra time to develop.

Frugal or unwilling to part with young pieces when we still have holes in the organization and only a very small amount of those players picked are on the team. We have alot of good young pieces that haven't proved anything at the NHL level. Trading them doesn't really help our team at all. Detroit isn't going to try and "buy" a ticket to the playoffs cause that would just lead to mediocrity and we would end up like the Flames or something. Good enough to get in and win a round or else just miss the playoffs. We have literally only been in a rebuild for 4 years why try and rush it? I don't count the Holland years cause he left this team in shambles, no prospects and a bunch of bad contracts.

Not meant to be aggressive in this, just informative

If you have 5 guys fighting for one spot, then 4 of them are going to suffer. That means wasted value and talent. It seems a lot more reasonable to me to use a small portion of a massive pool of talent to make some precision moves now that transition out of the rebuild than hoard it all and hope everyone turns out. Especially when this rebuild has been going on for a decade now. The time has come to transition.

Konecny / Cat are almost perfect long term pieces for this roster. Far better than whatever small portion of the prospect pool given would turn out to be.

If that’s the case then they shouldn’t be trading for Cat or Konecny or anyone at all. Just take a RD and F with your top 2 picks and keep going as if your window opens in 3 years
