Toffoli would be great on the Canes, but the Canes aren’t moving Pesce for him, especially now that they are close on an extension. Frankly, the Canes wouldn’t even consider moving a 1st for Toffoli, so Pesce would be a pipe dream return.

This is completely unrealistic from the Canes perpsective. Toffoli at the right price would be great with the Canes, but Pesce for Toffoli straight up is a no.

Toffoli for Pesce is light. Very light.

Further:

No way Chicago moves a trio of picks even if it is Hanafin and Vladar. The Hawks blueline is actually kind of functional. Vladar certainly works going there. But that Hawks burnt this to the ground for a reason, and moving 3 picks.for 2 players isn't it.

Tanev to Buffalo makes a.lot.of sense, but I don't see them giving up on Krebs.

Tanev for a 2nd and mayne some window dressing is far more realistic. I think asking for a Krebs is a bridge to far on that one.

Hawks decline. As stated, they wouldn't trade 3 high picks in this draft for a pending UFA LD and another G. While Hanifin and Vladar are both very good players, neither really plays a position of need for the Hawks.

Yeah. Best they would probably get from CHI is a couple promising LD prospects and a mid to late 2nd. But I think if CHI actually has interest in Hanafin, they'll just wait until next summer to make their pitch and keep the assets.

I think you overvalue Pesce a lot. Toffoli has a great attitude, won2 Cups, and knows how to get to places to score whic Carolina needs a lot, and actually scores a lot. He is not declining like Pesce.

Just traded for Taylor Hall so just wait and see. It’s widely reported Flsmes could get a 1st,2nd and prospect for Hanifin alone. Look around! Hanifin has 598 games experience but only 26, large, skates well defends well and scores. My trade is fair and Chicago is clearly giving Bedard some talent to immediately improve, based on the Hall/Foligno trade

Lol ok whatever, lots of reporters saying Flames can get a 1st, 2nd and prospect for just Hanifin. Nice try. Obvioly this is the 19th overall not a high first

I think you overvalue Toffoli a lot. The dude's second best season was 58 points 7 seasons ago. He had a good season but he isnt worthy of trading a roster player for in a swap for a declining Toffoli.

I think you overvalue your average declining defenseman vs a forward who scores consistently and is improving with age.

But Pesce wants out is what I hear…so add a 3rd rounder if you must, then a deal. EDIT: a bit short on the stats…Toffoli scored 49 points in 74 games in 21-22 and also 44 pts in 52 games in bubble which is same as 69 points in 82 games

Well Chicago seems to want to compete now so they may want Hanifin

Oh ok, I see what you were going for now. No not at all. CHI is not going to "compete now". Hall is just a good veteran presence for Bedard and other young players, a means of getting to the cap floor, and brings some nice elements of what they want CHI to look like in the future. They won't be competing this early in the rebuild.

Hawks gave up a prospect (Regula) who has a 3rd pair NHL ceiling and another (Mitchell) who they weren't going to qualify. That's not much to get Hall. Hanifin is a very good player - as I said. But he's a LD. Hawks have 6 LD prospects they are very high on, including two former 1st round picks. LD is not a position of need in Chicago at the cost of a 1st and 2nd. And the Hawks GM is on record saying they aren't trading away assets for another G, so there's that. Hawks are not the right trade partner for what your trying to do here.

Yes, signing a 31 year old coming off a career year to a big extension has never hurt anybody before.

I think you’re in the minority of people if you think pesce is an average Dman who’s declining. Keep Toffoli then, no problem. Extension is almost finalized with pesce anyways.

You guys are hilarious…do you EVER think of the cap ramifications and valuation vs salary for what players are paid for trade ideas like I do? Toffoli costs just $4.25M and can play top line or 2nd line….and will cost the same or less on a contract extension meaning he is very well-priced scoring that Carolina needs. Pesce is a younger player so will thus cost more (say $5.5M on a contract extension) and can more easily be replaced for less money…so again…none of you are actually thinking like a GM!
