Well it looks like we are probably going with Domi anyways

Been hearing its either guy rn they have been in talks with both Domi and Bertuzzi.

Bertuzzi makes the most sense as he allows you to spread out the offense while Domi would make for an interesting 3rd line but lets see

Domi on the 2nd Line with JT would be great.

A bunch of former Stars' prospects that became UFA's this summer have signed elsewhere.
Rhett Gardner- Philadelphia
Riley Tufte- Colorado
Ryan Shea- Pittsburgh
Ben Gleason- Edmonton

Between cutting bait on a bunch of guys that could never find an NHL roster spot and declining to sign a bunch of players they drafted, Nill has really cleaned out the prospect pool this summer to make way for a bunch of new ones.

Fill out your depth/ahl roster day.

I'm also expecting some AHL/ECHL Deals today

It’s obvious to me that Dubas is repeating what he did in Toronto and going with the mile wide but inch deep roster. Sign a ton of players who are mostly on the cheaper side and go right up to the cap. The difference is we don’t have mid 20s superstars, ours are mid 30s. In short, I can’t see it working here.

See, the problem is you should've gone the Washington way imo, guys like Malkin, Letang, Rust, Rakell should've beeen let go imo, it absolutely would've been painful but that would've been the right thing to do, now, you've forced yourself to be a contending aging roster, it feels like you might become another SJ soon

Dallas has $1M of cap left and he's still a public enemy after destroying Pavs. I don't see Dumba happening.

Still can't believe Tufte was a 1st round pick for us. What a miss lmao.

Forgot about that. They do need another RD though...

Agreed. They'll sign Dellandrea, and probably trade Faksa or Marchment for a D.

The most ideal scenario in my head is Marchment+Lundkvist+2024 1st for Pesce. But I doubt that happens.

Would love to keep Nils around since I like his potential, but if we're getting a new D, then Nils falls once again to 7th D role which doesn't help with his development. And we can't assign him to AHL either since he'd have to go through waivers.

Rakell and Tanger had to be resigned but the rest should have been told bye bye.

Would replace Wood with Mayfield.

Dude turns 31 before the season starts... 7 YEARS at $3,5M per year, dude is turning 38 when that contract expires. Pretty horrible.

Not sure if that contract includes NTC similar to how Engvall's does...but at least Engvall is still "only" 27, so that deal takes him to 34.

I wonder if Hakanpaa will get traded to clear enough cap space to re-sign Dellandrea and then we replace him with someone cheaper.

I think that’s a good opinion but keep in mind that the Penguins hand was dealt. Not to defend or prop up Doobey Doobey Doo, but I think the general understanding is he has to build around Crosby, Malkin, Letang but also retain future assets.

From an outside view I feel the Penguins are substantially better for 2023/24 than 2022/23 and also haven’t wrecked the future, yet.

Dubas has improved the team since taking over. Graves is a great pickup and he's picked up some useful depth
