Duclair is actually good and his cap isn't very high. Very solid deal for SJ

Sad to see Duclair go, but this is a clear cap dump.

And the assets they'll get at the TDL for him. He should be on the top line and produce pretty well for SJ until then.

They would still have to move Spencer Knight

This trade is horrible. All they got was a fifth rounder and a bag of pucks for a top 6F. Maybe if Zito didn’t sign 16 defenseman, especially OEL for way more then what he’s worth then they could have at least gotten a decent piece back. Today is horrible for Panthers fans. Only good thing is the Mikkola signing.

That's a great middle 6 pickup for Duclair, but San Jose could sign 3 or 4 of them right now for free if they wanted. Weird they gave up assets for him

Damn, feel bad for Duclair. He said in a recent interview that he was hoping to be able to play through his contract in Florida and finally be able to settle down.

Sad to see Duke go but he hasn’t been the same since his injury last offseason and he wasn’t worth $3MM any longer. I hope he proves me wrong in SJ.

In Zito We Trust.

To the Habs would make a lot of sense. Especially after they passed on an alleged Askarov trade.

Montembeault going back would work for their cap.

San Jose wins, a 4th liner and a 5th is not equal to a solid 2nd liner

IMO, a fair deal for Duclair would be Lorentz + a 3rd.

San Jose wins the trade.

Both teams got what they wanted and needed here: Florida desperately wanted cap space, and San Jose gets an upgrade at one of the middle-6 forward positions. I voted fair because this didn't come out of the blue; Florida had to make a cap move.

4th liner and a 5th for a top 6 player, absolute W for Grier.
Duclair could even be a 1st liner for this rebuilding team and get flipped at the TDL for definitely more than what it took to get him.

If Knight has moved past his issues maybe. Montreal is a bad city to have a habit in.
