Dvorak doesn’t fill a need for the isles or make sense cap wise. I could see a deal with Winnipeg making sense for both sides if they r willing to move Lowry back down to line four like Roy in Vegas or Laughton at times in Philly.

aside from the leafs deal yes, its gonna cost them a 1st to dump murray and Evans would be a solid depth player who can kill penalty and play anywhere for them.

They could simply buy Murray put at a fraction of his contract

a fraction for this year and then 2mil cap hit next year, didnt say they couldnt buy him out either but if they wanted to dump his entire contract it would cost around a first and getting back a player like evans would make it more attractive. Not saying its something they are going to do but its a tleast a plausible trade.

Is Evans good at anything in particular? A brief look at his numbers don't really show anything spectacular. Sure, he's cheap, but there are cheaper players out there.

If not, then no TOR will not add a 1st to drop him and just take the buyout.

his strength are mainly on the pk and defensively so no hes not going to score 20 goals but he does impact the game. and like i said i'm not saying the leafs are looking to move murray out so badly that they would do that deal but the current market to move out 4 plus mil is a first, sure they could just buy him out but if that was their plan they'd probably have already done it.

Technically, yeah Treliving could have bought him out in the previous window, but that would have given Samsonov more leverage in their contract negotiations. Which would likely end up costing TOR more on Sammy's contract.

I'm not opposed to a deal structured like this. In all honesty, TOR is lacking a second C to play on the PK, and Evans being right handed is a bonus in that regard. TOR did sacrifice a little bit defensively with their recent signings, so something like this could have some traction. With a 1st involved? I would hope not, but Evans does have two years left at a reasonable number.

Interesting.

Ya true didnt factor in Samsono negotiation impacting the timing. I think they could probably still make a deal like this work with a second instead of the first.

Not that I want to negotiate against myself, but seeing as MTL isn't going to arbitration with any of their players, they would be stuck with Murray on the roster for the year and can't buy him out. This would likely drive the cost up a little.

Not sure there is a deal to be had.

There is another coming up.Teams may receive an additional Buyout window. If a team has a player go to arbitration and it is either settled or awarded, the team receives a new 48 hour buyout window beginning 3 days after the arbitration settlement or award. The only contracts that are eligible to be bought out in this window are for player with Cap Hits greater than $4M AND they were on the team's roster at the last trade deadline.

I would think that Toronto can because Samsonov filed for arbitration.
