If I'm Columbus, I would want Hertl instead of Couture. I also would just keep Boqvist rather than take on Petry. Though if they are looking to make the postseason this year, I could see Petry as a potential upgrade.

Columbus has no interest or room for Petry, and I doubt there's much interest in Couture's contract, either.

Thanks for the input. I chose Couture because of the less term. I agree, I wouldn't want to move Boqvist either, but I have seen a lot of talk about them doing so.

How are they affording any of their RFAs if even one breaks out?

Jiricek+all those young defenders will have nowhere to play. Fantilli as well even if it's next year.

Okay so now CBJ bails out Pittsburgh by allowing the Sharks to unload 2 overpriced OLD AF players to them?? Petry again is 35 years old and offers almost nothing to a CBJ roster. ID 1000000% play Jiricek over Petry. thats an absolute no brainer

This would leave the Jackets with $16.5M to re-sign Johnson, Marchenko, Sillinger, Texier, Chinakhov, 2 more forwards and 1 more defenseman. Considering how diligent Jarmo is about managing his cap space, I don't see this happening.

Take out petry and add half retention on couture and I think the jackets probably accept.

Is this the year 2020 because that’s a hell of a bailout on CBJ’s account

It appears I'm in the minority where I don't have any issue with Couture or his contract. 1 mil or so of retention would be helpful, but that's not realistic given that SJ is already using 2 retention slots. I still think he's a very very good player and at least close to worth 8 mil. Seems I'm alone on that, but just my opinion on him.

Petry is a horrible fit for CBJ though. They just added Severson, have Jiricek either on the way or playing in the top 4 this year, and a log jam of depth at RD. The crowded room is the only reason they're even looking at unloading Peeke or Boqvist to begin with, so Petry coming back in a deal doesn't make much sense. MAYBE is it was only for 1 year, but even then I think it's a stretch. They're rather get these young guys more playing time and development than have a slightly betting option for just 1 year that won't be part of the future imo.

I'd want some protection on the pick for sure, but I'm not sure what's a good middle ground for both sides. Top 10 for sure for me, I'd prefer it to be top 16 so they have another 1st in the system once they likely miss playoffs this year, but not sure if that'd be too much to take away from SJ for their liking. Maybe top 14 works?

Assuming no Petry then and everything else is the same, I'd like this. Essentially Boqvist to get Grubrandson off the books + a 2nd back and then Roslovic + the protected 1st for Couture.
Not sure if the Pit 2nd would still be involved without Petry? but I'd be down for that deal on CBJ's end.
