Anaheim is not in a place to trade top young talent for 11M veteran wingers two years from UFA, nor are they going to retain some monster amount for you. You're not on the chess board, you're on the NHL23.

Marner isn't a 100-point guy. He's a zero-point guy to us in 2025-2026 because he wouldn't be re-signing with us, whereas we expect McTavish to be an 80-point guy that season, and for four or five more seasons after that. As the esteemed @mokumboi says, you're oblivious to context here.

McTavish is in the 'he is what he is' part of the career until proven otherwise... until then he is just 40 point guy that might do more down the road. Potential and proven are 2 totally different things so as far as context goes you are the one that is using subjective reasoning over objective
