Why are you doing this man. We don't need to see this nonsense anymore. Nylander isn't being traded

Shoot high, but keep your expectations low, since Carolina doesn’t even consider this.

Just because it’s the package you want doesn’t mean it’s realistic

Why is it, that when everyone puts “realistic” in the title, it’s a death sentence for any realism in the AGM? I guess it’s just another mystery.

Pretty sure you need to add Matthews and Marner both at half retained. Necas just had an almost PPG season so obviously better than any Leaf forward.

if the Leaf's can't work out a deal for him they have to move him. Even if they can they still might move him

This is so funny because what you've done here is

A 27 y/o winger w/ 40g 47a, and wants 10 mil

for

A 24 y/o center w/ 28g 43a, and prob wants 7 mil
1st
2nd

I think if you take out the picks, Carolina says no, and bets on upside and cost-efficiency, as well as having the center who's also younger.

They are going to sign him, everything points to this. Apparent poor trade market, both sides want to make the deal and according to fans on here, no one will pay him 10 million so he's going to take a smaller deal. Likely mid 9's

Mid 9s is embarrassing, I wouldn't offer him more than $8M

In spite of our contentious attempts to come to terms on the possibility of a trade, I have to agree with this. I can see the Nylander negotiations dragging for a good bit of the summer, but I think he eventually re-signs. I don't think anyone is going to be willing to cough up full value for him. I have a feeling Pesce will eventually extend with the Canes, but it is always good to have a solid plan B, C, and D lined up in case things take a sudden turn. Seems like this is how the drama of the off-season always goes.

You are a joke then. He deserves what he'll get. Few players are better than Nylander.

His comparables are Meier $8.8M and DeBrincat $7.875. So anything more than $9M is too much. If players want to win they need to leave someone money to fill the roster

He's out performed both players. He has scored the 22nd most goals and 23rd most points in the past 3 seasons and everyone in that range makes 9-10.5 million a season. Mid 9's is deserved.

Not really looking at the last 3 years

Nylander 214GP 91G 118A 209Pts
Meier 209GP 87G 86A 146Pts
DeBrincat 216GP 100G 100A 200Pts

Their numbers are close and when you factor in their age, physical play who they played with etc their numbers are very similar . So Nylander getting $9M is in line anything more he is pricing himself outside of Toronto.

Those fans who want the stars to take huge discounts so we can overpay depth guys and grinders are just the worst.

its not to overpaying depth guys No team has won the cup when they have players making more than $10M (until this year with Eichel) The leaf's would have 4.

And the Leafs have depth, they just don't overpay for it. And the cap is going up, so will wages. 10+ million dollar contracts are going to be more and more common.

You just posted today that Necas is a ‘40 point player’ and swapping a 40 point player for a 80 point player is funny. Did I misunderstand you?

He’d not only be pricing himself out of Toronto, but he’d be walking Toronto right off the cliff with him. No team will trade for him unless he is willing to extend at a reasonable number. This means 3 things - Leafs lose him for nothing after this year, They take a much lower than perceived value trade for him as rental, or Nylander agrees to a market appropriate deal with a team as a sign and trade…

I think the first is the most likely…

That's fine as he would still be with the team for the year and hopefully a good playoff run and if he really wants to be in TO and no one else offers him $10M he stays in TO. He could also have another great season and prove hes worth the month or a bad season and fall in line
