Reichel is pretty much the prototype of what Davidson wants his top 6 forwards to be going forward. Versatile (can play C or W). Great skater. Solid 200 ft game. Can play on both the PP and the PK.

Hawks won't pay the Rangers asking price for Laf - whatever it might be. The only shot Hawks have to get Laf is with an offer sheet.

I still haven't seen a Rangers fan conceed that it will be hard, not impossible but hard to sign Laf..

If it costs Reichel to trade for Laf the Blackhawks wont be a trade partner.

I’d make the pick 2026 conditional #29-60 (ie Chicago’s 2nd that upgrades to 1st if they reach 3rd round by 2025). And add a Rangers pick in 2024 to Chicago. Just hedges the window a bit.

You’re comparing points per game when Reichel has only played 34 games lol

Lafrenière isn’t worth this. He hasn’t shown any glimpse of reaching the potential of a #1 pick so no team is going to give up that good of a prospect for him.

While this trade isn’t feasible, the basis is. The best trade comparable would be Sam Bennett when he was traded to Florida. Both guys were former high picks that were completely misused by their drafted teams and both guys couldn’t show they had any potential in their original situation. Bennett was dealt for a 2nd round pick and a former prospect who was selected in the 2nd round as well, so basically 2 assets of 2nd round value. Until Lafrenière shows any kind of positive growth or consistency, that’s the realistic trade value of him.

Not even this. No GM is offering more than what NYR will. He has been basically at replacement level analytics and it’s been 3 years. NYR will live and die by that sword and if he breaks out it will be on a wicked cheap deal that no one else would consider till the have some hindsight.

2023 playoffs were insane for laf

Hawks spent a lot of time & energy to develop Riechel correctly instead of rushing him. Then they turn around & flip him for a player that was rushed & had his development suffer?
Hawks planted the seed, let’s see if the tree bears fruit.
