I don't know...if I was NJ, I would at least consider trading the 3 for Nylander extended at 750K-1Mx8.

I like how the first player listed in the Nylander trade is Bobby McMann

Well to get Nylander and dump arguably the worst contract in the league.

If Jarnkrok (who outscored Palat) has 4x$6M left. You'd all be saying it would cost Knies, Robertson + to dump him.

Worst contract in the league?

Did Seth Jones, Jacob Trouba, Darnell Nurse, MEV, Tyler Seguin, Jack Campbell, Jonathan Huberdeau, Bo Horvat, Sergei Bobrovsky, Colton Parakyo, Jeff Skinner, Erik Karlsson, Ben Chiarot, etc all retire?

I don't get your reasoning, was this trade suggestion serious? Or was it meant as a payback for trade suggestions you have found stupid in the past?

Sign Nylander to $775,000 x 8 years first, then we can talk about it.

The only one of those that Nylander can pull is Nemec and maybe a first... Everything else on that list is laughable

Did you just call Palat the worst contract in the league?

Wait Nemec has less value than Holtz? I know Hughes value has gone up

I dont think NJ regrets that signing at all. Guy was injured, had surgery & played less than 50 games.

Tre- I HAVE A GREAT DEAL!

Fitz- I am listening

Tre- We can give you WILLY who you wouldn't be able to afford, and we will add in a 27 year old McMann who has a whopping 10 games in the NHL.... wait we can also add in a RD in Timmy who you can have fight with B. Smith and Miller.

Fitz- hmm, well that's... tempting?

Tre- It is all gold for your team!

Fitz- and in exchange what are the Devils sending Toronto?

Tre- Best part, next to nothing. Just your 2020 7th overall pick in Holtz who is already 21 and hasn't made an impact.

Fitz- Seems rash... but seems like not enough.

Tre- Oh yeah, also your 2021 4th overall pick Hughes who has proven he is NHL ready at 19.... plus your 2022 2nd overall pick RHD Nemec. Add in Palat as well, here in TOR playoff performers are needed and Palat has a solid 150GP 51G 50 A.

Fitz- "chuckles" CLICK

Tre- So what do you say? Good deal right? Hello? Fitz you there? Hello?

Probably right about that. Curious what your thoughts on Nylander's new contract are, 9M up to a 9.25?

The athletic has him as a bottom 5 contract in the league. Literally view him as worse than Jarnkrok so again, how much would the leafs have to pay to dump 4 years of Jarnkrok at $6M? Considering most people here say he has no or negative value at $2.1M for 3 years you are joking if you thing Palat won't cost multiple 1sts to get rid of.

Because they have the room (now & projected forward until expiration) & it was a perfect fit for what the team needed. What pundits think is irrelevant, adding the right player to produce a winning formula does.

Fair enough. Hard to argue against the "intangibles". But normally those contracts end up becoming a joke like Lucic, Clarkson, Neal, etc.

That is true & this one could also go that way ... only time will tell. If they don't make it to the eastern cup finals at least once during the life of this contract, than something is clearly wrong with the construction of the roster
