IIRC Pysyk didn't even play a game for Detroit. He got injured a day after he signed. Then he had a setback during the season. Pens can do better than him in my opinion.

That deal isn't going to work for Chicago.

sign him to a pto and see if he can play. he’s not a bad defender and better than Ruhwedel imo but if he didn’t fully heal or heal right then let Ruh play

I'm not sure he's better than Ruhwedel. Go with the guy you know if all things are equal.

i mean a pto is harmless so why not. They play different games i figure Pysyk would be a better fit to be paired with Jospeh rather than Ruhwedel

That's fair. Nothing wrong with signing Pysyk to a PTO. That's probably what he's looking at.

It's not worth trying to acquire TRad. The Hawks will justifiably require an overpay because of TBL's deal for Jeannot. Very similar players and situations with the added element of...if Chicgao accepted less, BUT THEN...PIT flipped him at the TDL for more...just terrible asset management. So he'll get dealt at the TDL.

hawks decline. If I'm KD I'm asking for a 1st if you want a 20 goal RFA on the cheapest contract in the league

They'd want a first and they'd get it. Plus, now with Bedard coming in, I'm not so sure they'll be quick to trade away any good young players.

TRad is on a cap hit lower than the current league minimum, is 25 years old, put up 20 goals last year, and is poised to improve even more. I'm not sure I see him with CHI in the long term, due to the rebuild timeline and other players we have coming up, but he is a valuable player in the NHL, nonetheless. Probably takes a mid to late 1st, and a replacement level forward, or something along those lines.

I actually hope he sticks around. If you look at the last core, Raddysh's trajectory seems about on par with Sharp. If you're looking for parallels and trying to acquire those players, it's better to stick with guys you already know gel with the team.

Maybe. Depends on a lot of variables, though. How does he perform next season, what does he want in his next contract, what does the trade market for him look like, etc. Also, does he really "gel" with this team? The turnover with CHI's roster has been and will continue to be rapid. Just because he has been here for two years (sort of), doesn't mean he "gels".

But, sure, I have certainly considered all of those points, and I have actually drawn that exact parallel between him and Sharp. In the end, though, every player is different, and chemistry between players is always different. We can use those parallels as guidelines or ways to describe certain aspects of our vision for the team, but we can't base everything off of them.

I just don't think he is a lock to stick around, for a multitude of reasons. So, I could easily see him not being in CHI in a couple years time. But, that is all TBD. If he has a big season, he probably wants a very big pay raise but also the TDL market for him will be too good to pass up and he gets traded. If he regresses and doesn't show any defensive improvement, he probably gets traded or they let him walk. BUT, if he shows production consistent with or close to last season, with maybe some defensive improvements, I would be apt to lock him up at a more modest AAV with some term and hope to get some surplus value out of him over the next handful of years, while also being confident in him floating around the top 9 as needed.
