“Gaucher is a better future fit for 3C than McTavish is”

(Plays McTavish as 4C)

…so why not just trade for Gaucher?

CAR is really high on Jarvis and I think they'd have to be blown away to move him. Not..whatever this is.

This serves little purpose for carolina. Jarvis isn’t a prospect anymore either.

Same reason why they played KK at 4C the 1st season he was here. Eventually the center order will become Aho-McTavish-KK-Staal.

Absolutely not from ANA. McTavish is a core piece not available. Nikishkin plays the deepest position in ANA’s prospect pool where Mintyukov and Zellweger play. It’s honestly probably not in either team’s interest

Nikishin is likely better than either Mintyukov or Zellweger. Part of me wonders if Zellweger is better off as a premium bottom-pair piece with offense a la DeAngelo in the long run considering the size limitations.

Very fair package. Cheers for the non homerism lol. But I think MacT is untouchable, like other big stud Fs Beniers, Wyatt Johnson...

How's about the fact that McTavish is younger, plays a more valueable position, and already outproduces Jarvis..... McTavish > Jarvis alone

Then this ACGM has us adding a pick on top of that, so not happening.

Says who? Carolina fans who I’m sure are watching a ton of KHL and Junior hockey? I haven’t seen Nikishin, but I’m just one quick search he’s Athletic’s 36th best prospect, while Minty and Zell are 26 and 28. Is that always right? Hell no. But why move one of your best young players for a 3rd LD prospect. This is silly and you know it

The big problem with this analysis is the fact that you're ignoring the Nikishin inclusion. Nikishin has the potential to be a true 1D.

I mean you aren't just adding a pick, you are getting a phenomenal defensive prospect back

Mints and Zellweger are both top 25 prospects in the league on multiple prospect power rankings, so where exactly are you pulling that assessment from?

Nikishin seems hella underrated.
Was one of the best PLAYERS in the KHL last year.

As does Mintyukov, whom we already have, and is ranked higher on every prospect power board I've seen. If Nikishin was right shot you might have a chance.

Basically every one. Pronman's top prospects from this morning:

https://theathletic.com/4805966/2023/08/28/nhl-players-prospects-under-23-connor-bedard/

Nikishin is 23 and Zellweger and Mintyukov come in at 59 and 61. The trade is dumb on the whole but that's not because Nikishin isn't worth trading for.

That’s awesome. We can’t play 3 LD at the same time and have 2 studs at the position already. I’m not understanding how this means moving McTavish for another LD makes any sense

McTavish>Jarvis (If you disagree lets call it a wash and take skill and potential out even and its as easy as C>W)
LaCombe>Nikishin (I dont think this is controversial, can't say otherwise until we see Nikishin in America)

Why is ANA adding what will surely be an early second?

Easily, and I mean EASILY declined by the Ducks here

Understandable. Seems like a decline from both teams.

Not everyone, I've seen plenty of rankings stating Mints and Zells are in the same ballpark as Nikisin.

Here's one

I agree this is not great for Anaheim but LaCombe over Nikishin is not accurate. There are always concerns of dominance in the KHL translating to North America, but there's no arguing how good he is. The Athletic has him as the second best d-prospect behind Hughes.

That’s awesome. Even if he were better (absolutely not a consensus opinion), it doesn’t make it any more logical to move an elite young versatile forward who fits the profile of what we need for a prospect that plays our deepest position. A fun ACGM, but not a logical move for either team imo
