Slavin is not better than Dahlin, Hedman, Teows, Josi, etc. You're just very very bias. Per usual.
Josi isn't even good, Hedman just had the worst year of his career, Toews and Dahlin I understand the argument for, so let's start with Dahlin.
Defensively, Slavin mops Dahlin, that's not close. Dahlin is a far better puck mover, and more gifted offensively. Slavin's still an above average offensive presence, compared to Dahlin being below average defensively. It's why I would go Slavin over Dahlin right now. In 3-5 years time, as me again.
Devon Toews is the interesting one. Toews is one of the few players in the NHL that can challenge Slavin defensively, but as close as it is, it still probably favors Slavin. Slavin's transition and offensive numbers do not compare to Toews', however, Toews also trots onto the ice with the best defenseman analytics has tracked. Slavin has done this with a rotating cast of Hamilton, Burns, Faulk, and DeAngelo. Toews without Makar wasn't at THIS level, which is why I'd go Slavin.
But you know, talk out of your backside.
