Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 22, 2023
Published: Sep. 22, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
DET
  1. Nylander, William
  2. Robertson, Nicholas
Additional Details:
Leafs are playing Nylander at center to up his trade value. Red Wings need a number one center with more talent than Dylan Larkin. Leafs sign and trade Nylander 8x10. Robertson asked for a trade so he's thrown in the deal as well.
TOR
  1. Berggren, Jonatan
  2. Söderblom, Elmer
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (DET)
  4. 2026 1st round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Leafs were extremely impressed with Elmer Soderblom in the prospects tournament. They plan on playing him with Matthews. That's why the Red Wings played him at right Wing. Shanahan and Yzerman have been working on this deal but needed to see Soderblom at right wing and Nylander at center. Both liked what they seen. Jonatan Berggren wasn't going to make the lineup and was added to increase the trade offer. Finally a 2024 second round pick and a 2026 first round pick were sent in the package for Nylander. The rebuild is over in Detroit.
2.
DET
    Future considerations
    ARI
    1. Chiarot, Ben
    2. Veleno, Joseph
    3. 2025 2nd round pick (DET)
    Additional Details:
Red Wings move Ben Chiarot as they weren't happy with his play last season and has a pretty bad contract. He also wasn't happy that he was going to be a healthy scratch most nights because of the players added in the offseason. They add Joe Veleno and a second round pick to get Arizona to take him.
    3.
    DET
    1. Hellebuyck, Connor
    Additional Details:
Red Wings trade for Connor Hellebuyck. They plan on signing him to a long-term contract but both sides want to see how the season goes first. The rebuild is over.
    WPG
    1. Cossa, Sebastian
    2. Husso, Ville
    3. 2026 2nd round pick (DET)
    Additional Details:
Ville Husso was really good until the trade deadline. Winnipeg Jets fans are disappointed in the trade until they see him play. They weren't going to get more without an extension in place. They also get Cossa who's the Red Wings top goalie prospect. He was a first round pick and played well in the ECHL last season. Finally a 2026 second round pick is added to the trade.
    4.
    DET
    1. Keller, Clayton
    Additional Details:
Clayton Keller asked for a trade as he doesn't want to play in a college arena anymore. The rebuild is over in Detroit.
    ARI
    1. Fabbri, Robby
    2. Kasper, Marco
    3. Raymond, Lucas
    Additional Details:
Red Wings send Lucas Raymond, Robby Fabbri and Marco Kasper to Arizona for Clayton Keller.

No from Winnipeg. You'll need to add more to dump Husso's contract and then you still need to pay for Hellebuyck.

Please don’t try to sell Husso as a positive asset. The guy was the worst goalie in the league on medium risk chances. My guess is Winnipeg would view his salary inclusion negatively

I tend to assume that most players with NMC’s include Winnipeg. Not a nice thing to say, but it’s just a general assumption.

Hussos stats tanked when he played with injury at the end of the year. Look up a graph of his xGSA and you'll see two drops and two rises, with the dramatic drop at the end of the year.

More the their state of the art training facility which I assume is just a dank basement somewhere in Arizona. Maybe Matthews will lease his rink to them so they can have a proper facility.

Compare Raymonds stats to Keller stats when they where the same age. There is no reason to include Raymond in a Keller trade when Raymond has the potential to be a Keller level player in few years.

Wings are also in no position to trade away valuable futures for rentals.

Right but Raymond is soft!!!! (this guy's response will be this).
BTW, Raymond put on 12 pounds this off season.

AZ passes on both those - not taking 3 years of chariot for a 2nd (have 20 round 1-3 pick in next 3 drafts) and a bottom 6C. Not trading keller, he never asked for trade

Detroit was 2nd in goals allowed above expected in 5 on 5 and 4th overall for the year. However you position it, it looks ugly. The solution was to Bring in a goalie from the one team that was worse

I believe Detroit is on the uptick if they can upgrade the goalie position.

He went into the season expecting to be a tandem goalie, hence why a booming start. The drop-off, he had some sort of injury that he played through.

He's had the off-season to train as a starter.
I'm not going to discuss anything regarding Husso if you fail to recognize the very clear asterisk.

It’s an asterisk that he was the worst goaltender in the league for medium danger shots.

I focused on the year, because it’s a bigger sample size. I hope, for your sake, there is consistency and improvement.

Right now, I’d suggest that statistically he’s in the lower tier of starters on the league while making good money, I’m sure there are reasons to rationalize why he can improve.

Either way, I doubt many teams will value him at all.

You're clueless about hockey and clog up the board with useless CFACGMs. Do everyone a favor and stop posting. Seek attention elsewhere to feed your insecurity. Go outside once in a while. Thanks.

Look, you can value Husso in any fashion and it won’t change the fact that the Jets will need a goalie if Helley is dealt. Throw stats out the window, Husso is an upgrade over brossoit and and the least allows a 1a 1b. It’s the same reason that Vanecek was always mocked to be included in a devils Helley deal. If the jets ship out his cap hit, they have room anyhow. Husso is at worst a neutral in this deal, a necessity.

The Jets will absolutely need a goalie if they ship out Hellebuyck. I just question whether they’d want Husso at his salary for two years considering his consistency issues.

Vanacek is nothing more than a mechanism to get salaries closer in the NJ deals, but I’m curious why Detroit fans would view them as similar considering Vanacek is better at less money.

My assumption is Winnipeg could acquire a goalie that is a better fit in a separate deal. They may prefer Lyon to Husso when you consider the contracts. Either way, does Husso waive his NMC for Winnipeg?
