No one can argue against the value you are throwing up here. But Buffalo will not be trading Cozens unless someone like McDavid is coming the other way.

They won't do it, and rightfully so. Tage and Cozens are their 1-2 punch, why should they move him for futures?

It’s not worth getting into. He’s about as lock as you can get. 1) trading a player before their contract even kicks in seems weird. 2) Buf has plenty of depth pieces. He wouldn’t be traded but quality would need to be there instead of quantity

Sabres aren’t moving the guy they probably view as a 1B moving forward. Thompson the Ozone machine and Cozens the 2 way scoring center. He’s locked up for 7 more years so why would they move him?

Alright, I’ll bite….

Best comp may be a guy right there in their lineup: Ryan O’Reilly in his 2015 trade to Buffalo.

It was a deal between two developing clubs that brought ROR to Buffalo (after they lost the McDavid Lottery). In return, Colorado got:

1. Grigorenko (probably still a top-25 to 30 prospect but hadn’t progressed much)
2. Zadorov (had just played full year in NHL as 19-year old…also close to top 25 to 30 prospect)
3. Compher (a very good college player whose stock was rising was on bubble for top-100 prospects)
4. 2nd round pick.

So how does this sound?

1. Tamosino
2. Askarov
3. Ufko
4. 2nd

It may take a package like Kemell, Moldendyk, Schaefer, a 1st and 3rd. But the Sabres aren't moving Cozens lol

Im partial to evangelista over tomasino but like...assuming he wanted out the way ROR did, I'd probably do this.

I’d take the Tomasino side 7 days a week

its a bunch of un established futures so its great if youre rebuilding or cozens wants out it makes sense but if you're trying to compete asap its bad risk assessment cause you're moving your 2C and betting on Mittelstadt/krebs.

I agree. But was trying to answer the question as honestly as I could.

I was gonna say wood and Schaefer would be on my list, unfortunately that would still require kulich, savoie, or ostlund to take a huge step first. Would mittelstadt be of interest?

Cozens just isn’t for sale as of yet. I’d come back to this in like 3 years after any of BUF’s top tier C prospects are threatening to unseat him. I think they’d be open to it by then

Sabres finally have their 1-2 centers. They are not trading Cozens. He on a great contract for next 7 years. Come back in 5!

Here’s an idea: let’s not trade Dylan Cozens. Especially if the best you can do is a pile of meh and lottery tickets.

That's some decent assets and a lot of future for Nashville. But Cozens is probably as untouchable as there is, especially with his new extensions just kicking in.

A right handed 24 yo Josi signed for another 8 years at $8,500,000.
Of course no one would make that trade either.
