Rasmussen scored at a higher PPG than Fredric last season. He's a year younger. This trade is bad.

Overpaying.

You’ll have to because Boston has no desire to move him. But that is still an overpayment.

I would guess Detroit isn't your favorite team with this debacle. Would way rather give RAS the chance on that top line and hang on to our 1st.

This is an overpay and bad for Detroit, but not because of Rasmussen.

Frederic’s proj WAR is 74% vs Rasmussen’s at 23%

Trent is a considerably better defender and does a lot of things that Rasmussen doesn’t.

The concern is will he maintain his finishing rate. If he does, there is zero reason for the Bruins to trade him.

Plus we trade that puck back to Boston and we have no 1st this year.

If he created space for a teammate in the offensive zone once per game this would be a home run IMO

I’m looking for someone who’s going to stick up for teammates and make plays behind the net. Michael Rasmussen has never been in a fight in his whole career and can’t control the puck.

Why would Detroit do that?

Because Rasmussen doesn’t fight, that’s why. And he doesn’t create space for teammates I would argue that he takes space AWAY from teammates.

Has gotten better each year, hits, and is becoming a solid middle 6 piece. Using a first to go from him to Frederic makes little sense when it’s debatable who could be better in 2 years.

Frederic is better and it isn’t really debatable if you give any care whatsoever about their defensive play.

I acknowledged that by saying it could be debatable who is better in two years. Ras is getting better each year, and last year looked more like the first round pick that he was supposed to be. He converted to W and has a huge opportunity to be a solid piece, while giving injury and center depth up and down the lineup.

Fred is also not a 1st better than Ras.

I said above that I think it’s an overpayment in terms of value.

Even though I do believe that the late first and second round picks are a tad overvalued in trade talks on the board. The likelihood that it is better than Frederic is probably in the 25th percentile, but if you hit … you reset the cap clock. How many late first rounders don’t make it out of the AHL?

The real question with Frederic is does he maintain his finish rate from last year. If he does, he’s a lot more valuable than people suggest. It’s a big enough if that I agree it is a bad deal.

Rasmussen has the pedigree and looks the part.

Ah my mistake. I was viewing the pick as 10-17 range rather than a late round contender pick. I do agree, not all 1sts are the same, and also agree that numerous late round 1sts don’t yield results (Veleno hopefully keeps this season play going as an example).

Even more so than other rivals (possibly Pitt), I will always have distain for Boston. My former teammate is live/die Bruins and we were roommates in 2014…. Those were tough times. That is why I get weary looking at trades between the two lol

Ras has had ample opportunities on that line and he crashes into his own teammates.
