3 1st round picks in a deep Dman draft. That’s 3 D right there

I think Mcdavid gets a little less than that and Drai would probably bring back Edvindsson over Kasper

Does 2 years of McDavid get that kind of return? At this point Edmonton is better off waiting another season so a team can work out an extension with McDavid before giving up their entire future for him.

I don't think mcdavid is even worth a potentially complete starting lineup.

Fair value but Detroit doesn't sell a strong chunk of future for 2 years of almost any player in their current state.
Try NJ, LAK, or CAR.

Too much for McDavid, not enough for Drai

NJ? We have got two good centers (well, we started season with two good ones). And have short-term need on blueline and long-term need in goal. I don’t think we would be good spot.

I think a mcdavid package from buffalo would look more like cozens, power, and a first. That's a package with a first overall pick on defense, which I think is more appealing to Edmonton than Quinn and savoie. That's as far as I would go, the Sabres forwards are helped out by adding the best player in the world, but the Sabres suspect defense would then need two legitimate top 4 d, plus another goalie. Even with several high end young players, offering any more than that quickly becomes borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.

First, I think McDavid would have complete control over where hes going to. He will want to go to a contender (only). The teams that initially stand out would be TO or Boston. Not sure TO/Boston would have the pieces that Edmonton would need coming back. Assume McDavid with extension
New Jersey - Hischier/Nemec/Schmid/1st
Rangers - Chiytl/Schneider/Othmann/2024-1st/2025-1st (use a first to trade for a goalie - Markstrom?)
LA - PLD/Roy/Turcotte/ 2024-1st/2025-1st (use a first to trade for a goalie - Markstrom?)

Thinking more of teams that are flush with prospects and competing now.

You’re kinda doing that by trading Power for a Center though
U even recognize that leaves a big hole on defense for us

Oh I agree, I'm just speculating what I think is a trade would look like. It would have to make sense, and I don't see our gm trading 6 high value pieces. Plus Edmonton would want a major defensive piece coming, and from where I'm sitting, we have 3 defensive pieces worth anything (I don't think Edmonton would say no to Samuelsson as a throw in, but he wouldn't be a major piece for mcdavid).

There’s also NO WAY that EDM trades McDavid or Draisaitl,
not unless they refuse to sign extensions
But that’s a year away for Draisaitl & 2 for McDavid
