Tanev and Zadorov Asking Price

Created by: Devsfan25
Team: 2023-24 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 27, 2023
Published: Nov. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- Flames fans: What is the asking price for Tanev and Zadorov individually?

- Both players would most likely need to be half retained

- Flames would likely take back one of Brendan Smith or Colin Miller for purposes. It’d more likely be Brendan Smith

- Players off limits:

- Jack Hughes
- Luke Hughes
- Nico Hischier
- Jesper Bratt
- Timo Meier
- Dawson Mercer
- Alexander Holtz
- Michael McLeod
- Jonas Siegenthaler
- Dougie Hamilton
- John Marino
- Simon Nemec
- Seamus Casey
- Akira Schmid

- If an extension came with Zadorov specifically because of his age, I think Devils would be okay parting with guys like Bahl, Gritsyuk, Hameenaho, Filmon, etc. I don’t think a 1st round pick is going to be involved; I think a 2nd and a prospect is more likely

Miller hasn't been bad, working with Hughes well. It's a matter of fixing Bahl, Marino, and Siegs.

You can have Zadorov but us greedy TML fans already called Tanev sorry lol.
People seem to feel its a 1st plus for Tanev and then a 2nd plus for Zadorov not retained. So somehwere in that ball park ish.

What? Timo has been fine ever since the first few games of the year. 11 points in 14 games and was on 3 game goal streak before he got injured 2 weeks ago. Timo is the only true power forward up front we have. If it’s anyone’s contract that is killing us up front, it’s Palat, but he’s at least played better the past few games

Depends on the market. If it's a buyers market a pair of 2nds for Tanev, and a 2nd + B prospect/young roster player for Zadorov. If it's a sellers market both could absolutely return a 1st or more in value

He actually picked up RIGHT before his injury. He started slow last year too and ended up with 40 goals.

I think you’re right on with that. I could easily see the Devils offering a 2nd and Graeme Clarke. Clarke has put up good numbers in the AHL and looks ready to make the jump but he just doesn’t have anywhere to play. Him and Holtz battled for the 3RW spot and Holtz won that spot and has played well this season, especially of late. I just don’t see where Clarke would slide in. Would be a good candidate for the Flames to take a chance on. Same goes with Nolan Foote

If I'm buying D it's gonna be a major upgrade over Bahl.
I'd rather buy goalie or cheap depth to deal with all the injuries we've had

Right now even with the injuries I feel pretty solidly about

Hughes-Toffoli-Bratt
Nico-Palat-Mercer
Mcleod-Holtz-Lazar

Siegs-hamilton
-Marino
Hughes-Miller

When Haula Nosek Meier are back I'll be estactic with a 4th line of either Lazar-Mcleod-Bastian or Lazar-Mcleod-Nosek, but upgrades over Willman and Tierney are needed, those guys get caved in
I'd be looking for goalies
And Bahl should be a fine 3LD long term but rn I don't think he can truly handle the tough assignments Marino takes

I'm not saying hes a bad player. I just think hes probably the 5th-6th best forward ( hughes, bratt, heisher, toffoli) and hes making more than them who all took pay cuts and he took more than hes worth imo. I just think his contract is gunna cause you guys issues in a few years, but maybe not.

I would rather see Hanifin…just think he fits more of the way NJD plays. The question then becomes if we extend him or not…and if so, does Bahl go the other way.

I’d think prices end up around…
Hanifin = 1st, 3rd
Tanev = 2nd, 3rd
Zadorov = 3rd

(Then add a body for cap, add a pick for retention…)

I think sold as a pair it's definitely a first plus. Individualy you can argue their values, but sold together that conversation doesn't happen without a 1st.

Since it sounds like everythings off limits, we'll take the best of whats on the table for one of them, and do the same elsewhere with the other.

Yeah I don't think the Devils would go after both. I think it'd be one or the other. My offer would be 2025 2nd, Graeme Clarke, Brendan Smith for either guy half retained

I would have liked to see timo sub 8.5, but oh well, no way I'm moving him tho unless it's for a haul. You just aren't gonna find Timo replacement any cheaper. Palat however is someone I'd rather have a quality 3rd liner winger at like 2-3 mill instead of, like another Haula, or a Martinook/Fast type guy

Meier brings a more power forward game while being able to keep up with all the speedy, smaller guys. I don’t think they’d consider moving him anytime soon. We should be in good shape cap-wise for next few years…even with Mercer and Luke getting big extensions.

I suggested Hanafin in another AGM, with the idea of signing him to be #1 or #2 LHD. Contract is a concern I know with raises due to Mercer (so far he wont command stupid money based on this year) and Luke. But we will need a better D next year at a min. Nemec being ready and Luke with a full year under his belt.
Hanafin-Dougie
Luke- Marino
Siegs- Nemec

Looks ok.

I also think they may be done with Vitek after this season. Fitz makes a hard play for Saros in NSH, using our vast prospect pool to replenish Preds cupboard

Hanifin is more of the same. We definitely need a guy on this team whose a true bruiser. Zadorov and Tanev are good defensively and aren't afraid to lay the body. I would opt for Zadorov and if he was willing to sign for 4-5 years at a similar AAV to Graves, then I'm all in for that. I think if an extension were to occur at the TDL with Zadorov, Bahl could go the other way

Yes KB goes back, lots of moving parts but it makes us a tougher out I think in PO's

More of the same? He's a top 10-12 defender in the league. Same as in not a bruiser, sure get it.
Agree on the hits, but top D will be needed to go deep for a cup run. Zads is not much more talented (if at all than Bahl)

Hanifin supposedly almost agreed to a 60m dollar extension with CGY for 8 years which puts him at 7.5 AAV. Hanifin is a good player but not worth 7.5; I'd be comfortable going 6x6 with him, but not 8x7.5

If history is any indication of the future, Calgary will likely hold onto all their UFAs because they are "only" 10 points of of a playoff spot in February. They will "stand pat" at the deadline and acquire an obscure 4th line player to make a push for the playoffs, ultimately finishing in 9th place, draft a midround pick that ends up being a middle of the line up player....wash, rinse, repeat...

If they did that, that'd be brutal. I think Hanifin, Tanev, and Zadorov should all be moved on the backend. Lindholm should also be moved and Backlund should have been moved before signing an extension

I get it and you're not wrong but this D, even with another year is not winning a cup. Graves salary $4.5x6? Sevs 6.25x7? Hanifin's better by a lot (Corsi/Fenwick etc)
