I was a big fan of Dvorak when he was on AZ. I’d make this trade however I think Perry is on or about to be on waivers so you can claim him or I guess trade for him and guarantee you get him.

I'm very high on Johnson. I really think he can eventually be a point per game guy.

I don't see any scenario in which he is traded for futures. Jackets have too many pieces as is (not saying they are all high end pieces) and if they make a move it would be to bring in a star in my opinion. Johnson should only be moved as a package for a true #1C. That said, the proposal of a top 10 pick plus two good prospects isn't terrible, it just doesn't get Columbus any closer to fixing their center issue unless these pieces are flipped as part of a bigger deal.

It would be more of hockey trade of a player that was similar age/caliber. SO it would have to be a under 22 player that is projected to be a top line player, whichI would think it would have to include either Dach or Salf, but i dont know all of MTL's prospects. It doesnt really matter though, Jackets arent trading KJ.

I can see them trading Habs 1st in a package for a player like Hertl.
SJ probably better like to get picks at this point instead of player.

I dunno. It happens after the position is known (7th-12th).
Johnson would be a contributor sooner than anyone selected with that pick and there's a good chance he ends up being the better player.
I might not add Beck and/or Engstrom, but I'd have no problem moving that pick in a trade for Johnson.

Just wanted to second this exactly. Based on team need, it doesn't make sense to move Johnson unless it's a young, established 1C that fits the timeline. Otherwise you keep the guy that should at least develop into a 1LW. Moving him for more futures doesn't make sense when we already have so many.

Just because things have gone sour with Perry, I don’t see any reason for the Hawks to take on an additional year of Dvorak’s horrendous contract.

Chicago can just waive Perry and hope someone claims him or retain 50% and get FC or a late pick. Hell they don’t need the cap space like a lot of teams, they just tell him to stay home and pay him for the remainder of the year. All those options are better then trading straight up for Dvorak.

Chicago paid Perry and Foligno to reach the capfloor. Acquiring Dvorak and is 4.4 millions will help chicago next year. Then if Dvo step up they could look for a draft pick and 50% retention next year.

The problem isn't the pick going to CBJ for Kent, it's adding Beck (especially) and Engstrom on top of that pick
But like 2 CBJ fans mentionned, doesn't make sense for CBJ either to trade Kent for futures

The Hawks can just go out and overpay in FA for guys like Hanifan and Teravainen who can actually help the team rather then hope some overpaid stiff like Dvorak reboots his career.

Dvorak for Corey Perry: is this the best bang for the buck? Pun intended.

As much as Dach and Newhook have been decent pickups, Im kind of looking forward to the Habs drafting their own talent from now on. Johnson is a good prospect/player for sure but I think paying the above, if that pick is anywhere in the top 10, is too much.

As for the Perry trade, no thanks. Its basically moving him for nothing which is pointless. He has value, maybe not a lot but he has value. Its not like the Habs need the cap either.
