Not gonna bother with the values here but 1 team can only retain on a maximum of 3 contracts at a time

No go for the Hawks. It is not like Hall & Soderblom are untouchable or anything, it’s just that the return is not vey appealing. No way would Hawks want anything to do with Huberdeau’s contract & Vladar is just a fringe goalie. Florida’s pick in 2025 is most likely going to be late in the round.

Hawks decline instantly. Can't imagine the Hawks want anything to do with that Huby contract.

Lets assume the rumor is true that Hanifin really wants to go home and play in Boston. Let's also assume the rumor that Boston tried to trade up for him in 2015 (some say they wanted Werenski) is accurate. Why would Boston give up a 1st + one of their best prospects when they could likely get Hanfin in FA without giving up assets?

Hanifin - McAvoy
Lindholm - Carlo
Lohrei - TBD

That’s an insane return for a couple months of Lindholm

Face it, you are stuck with Huberdeau, there aren't enough 1st round picks to take on that contract.

I regret to inform Flames fans what the true cost of moving that horrendous Huberdeau contract will be. This wouldn't even begin to cover it.

Huburdeau’s contract is arguably the worst deal in the NHL, the only way he gets dealt now is with significant retention and at least one 1st round pick + attached.

I agree that huberdeaus most likely going to be a boat anchor in Calgary for the duration of the deal. In this I’m assuming hawks aren’t going to win for the next 4-5 years so why not take a shot at getting huberdeau a real goal scorer and see if you can get a point a game setup guy going for essentially nothing? In 4-5 years the contracts not the worst and movable I’d think of it doesn’t work out.

They’re all hypothetical maximizing returns with retention not like this a real transaction

I would think with the cap going up the avs would have no issues signing lindholm to an extension and they get a first line line centre on the 2nd line I don’t think it’s a crazy return

Bruins are in a place to challenge for a cup this year adding Hanifin to that d core would make them one of the best in the league I think

I don't think they're really in a spit to challenge. They're a playoff team, but they need their goalies to be lights out most night to have a shot. They just don't have the depth scoring you need to make a deep run
