The number of humans alive under 27 who have scored 40 nhl goals in a season is very small, the number of times they’re available for trade is much, much smaller.

Columbus is in the position to retain if they want. (Due to laines term being just 2 more seasons).

I predict a wild, absolutely wild overpay is coming.

Laine gonna get kekalainen a huge bag.

I mean to be fair Vilardi also been hurt a bunch. The fact Iafallo and Kupari also went makes it more hurtful for LAK

In general its almost like a trade neither side won but WPG gets a bit more benefit cause no more PLD lul

The difference =
Winnipeg KNOWS when Vilardi can't play
LA has no idea which game PLD is going to "play"

There are seven, I believe. DeBrincat, Hughes, Kaprizov, Matthews, Robertson, Thompson, Tkachuk

But I don't think Laine returns similar value as those guys. For every DeBrincat, Nash, Kovalchuk type deals, there are also guys with term like Brad Boyes, Simon Gagne, James Neal who have returned less than expectations.

I mentioned Spezza as a joke didnt think DOPS would actually repeat itself with a first time offender

Well anyways this probs gonna get appealed and lowered to 3 games

With this cap environment tho? I feel the fact that nobody can move, everybody’s against the cap, then suddenly columbus is like look at this -half retained laine for 2 more years and he’s 25-.

I dunno what forward on the market has the same value upside and risk profile. Especially since Columbus is not currently a cap team, can facilitate what gets them the best return in a number of ways.

We shall see. Feels like a huge market.

I wouldn't have an issue with it if it was consistent, but nothing the DoPS does is consistent. I knew he was going to be the one they decided to give more than the typical 1 or 2 games for a first time offense.
I would respect Gallagher more if he chose not to appeal.

Maybe so, and more likely with 50% retained, but hard to ignore the drama, the indifference, the benchings, the defense, the malcontentment

I'm actually still rooting for PLD, and I've always been a fan of his skillset. He's worth a gamble to put it all together. I would have loved to add him either time he was available. The Jets did very, very well in that trade. LA gave up a lot, but could justify it saying PLD had done more and they have a window with Doughty.

Until they gave him that ridiculous contract. That is not a contract you give a guy that still has the question marks about consistency and heart that PLD has had follow him twice (three times now). Absolutely insane, imo. And now practically unmoveable with that term if it goes further south.

Yeah that was a bad "double-down"; they have until July 1 before the NMC kicks in but won't get much back if they do. Best thing is if PLD can put it all together; but like Huberdeau and Gaudreau the early returns are not a good sign.

That should be a Bertuzzi goal but NHL robbed him

Demelo shoved Nylander into his own goalie

But nah shoving someone into your goalie = goaltender interference lul

Now were killing a penalty cause league dont know what they doing again as we have seen goals like that count

I think this summer NHL need to sit down and discuss goalie interference rules on top of other things as what even is it at this point

I honestly think OEL stopped trying in Arizona + Vancouver. I’ve never seen him play with this much effort in the last 5 years

I don’t know if it’s confirmed but I believe I saw something saying he played most of last season with a broken foot, which would help explain his poor play. He was actually pretty good his first season in Vancouver but fell off big time last year
