2019 GOTTA CATCH EM ALL

Created by: TMLBRIAN

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 15, 2024
Published: Jan. 15, 2024

Description
I am so curious to see what Hughes does.

I am quite confident he will take a run at Zegras.

What other young guys do you think he will try for? I can see Kakko being a target also.

What about Broberg? He can slowly collect the entire 1st round of the 2019 draft. haha

Canucks aren’t paying a 2nd for a #7 dman. I’d pay a 4th

Habs are not likely moving Roy, hometown kid thriving in his rookie AHL season with a really high ceiling

I just changed trade targets.

Broberg for Kovacevic and a 2nd.

Try again Habs have 6+ LHD in the organization better than Broberg

I agree Hughes has probably already inquired about Zegras (I hope). Lundell is another one I'd be asking about as well. Holloway is another guy that is underperforming, but if he can't produce in Edmonton I'm not sure MTL is the team that can get more out of him.

IMO habs need to trade one of their D for a top 6 forward.

Yea I see Zegras as being a really good fit in Montreal. But the cost would be HIGH.

Take Barron out of the Anaheim trade

Don't think you get a 2nd for Allen even retained

A 2nd is Savard without retention, add it and I think Habs ask for a 1st. 2025 TDL though I think that price comes back to a 2nd

Overpay for Kakko for my mind, rather just see what Roy can bring to the table

Kovacevic is more valuable to the Habs than Bromberg

I think the Ducks would want something more along the lines of Mesar + Farrell + 2024 1st

1st for Monahan is fair but I think if a team really wants him they will add a 3rd to ensure they get him

Don't think anyone goes over a 3rd for Allen

Savard gets a 2nd + 3rd minimum and can't be retained on if we are retaining on Allen

Kakko I am not sold on going after but maybe for Monahan straight up

Kovacevic doesn't need to be moved and I would rather keep him and move Harris

If KK and Broberg don't bounce back like this ACGM is expecting them to then both of those trades are terrible for the Habs, you're paying for their ceilings here it seems rather than their floors. I hate to say it but both of them are looking to be busts or KK to be at least a 3rd liner

Skipping over all the obvious
the one thing that made no sense to me is signing Chatfield.
If we move out D , we want none back
Broberg is more of a swap so whatever but Hutsons here soon and he's in the way with Harris and Matheson now.

The defense situation just looks like someone overloaded a Blender
Xhekaj and Harris being pushed aside for Mailloux is a hard sell but for Chatfield . . . why?

NYR isn’t moving Kakko for futures. While 31 fan bases are dissatisfied with his offensive stats, and maybe many of us are too. We know he is still on track to be solid offensively and currently amazing defensively which is needed at the moment anyways and at a cheap cap hit. He’s the play we need. And will become the player everyone wants/expects in time.

Thats not true, hasnt been true since that other untouchable piece you guys love was moved.
The week before you couldnt get Drysdale for Gauthier and a pick because he was so important
Now ANA had leverage and still paid Drysdale and a 2nd for Gauthier.

Montreal is paying Kovacevic and the 2nd for Broberg. Edmonton isn't giving up the 2nd here, they are getting it.

Could very well be true. If not it will be a 2nd + B prospect.

Since there are so few centres available at the deadline, I can see a team paying the 1st. Or doing 1st for Monahan + 3rd.

Time will tell!
