Description
I'm not super good at knowing values. So bare with me! These are moves for the playoffs. Assuming Nichushkin isn't available until the playoffs. These are just ideas. Does this solve the Avs 2C problem? Well no. But maybe Colton steps up as 2C until Cal Ritchie is ready to go. I think these moves make the Avs harder to play against. It gives them an actual 4th line. With depth. Especially with Chooch back for the playoffs. The avs still have Behrens and Olausson as trade chips in the offseason for a 2c if they so see fit. Let me know if there is anything you would change.

Hanzel, Jeremy
2$800,000
Trades
1.
COL
  1. 2024 6th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Blackhawks need bodies. Maybe RyJo is a bit more of a fit with the hawks. Avs basically dumping salary. And two players they don't need. To the hawks for essentially free.
2.
COL
  1. Evans, Jake
Additional Details:
Evans only has 2 goals this year. Perhaps he comes cheap? Let me know if I need to add.
MTL
  1. Beaucage, Alex
  2. 2024 4th round pick (COL)
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Evans brings speed, and grit to the avs middle six. He works hard, goes to the dirty areas. He's the type of player Bednar loves. Plus the avs seemingly like to trade with Montreal. And they have Evans on some term as well.
3.
COL
  1. Fleury, Marc-André ($1,500,000 retained)
  2. Maroon, Patrick
Additional Details:
Both Fleury and Maroon would have to waive their NTC's. I know Hanzel looks like a throw away. But he's not. He's an overager. He's point per game on a bad Seattle team as a dman. I'm not sure what the retention slots look like.
MIN
  1. Hanzel, Jeremy
  2. Prosvetov, Ivan
  3. 2026 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Avs likely don't want to give up a 1st. But a second maybe could entice the wild. With the signing of Weinstein, it would appear Hanzel is no longer in their plans. This trade adds a good goaltender to split time with Geo. And some depth for the playoffs.

Do not trade Hanzel. He is my darkhorse to make the Avs next season as a 6/7. Maroon can't keep up to the Avs. Let another team acquire his services.

Hawks wouldn't trade a 6th round pick for MacDermid, let alone taking on the RyJo cap dump. You are gonna have to include at least a 2nd round pick to Hawks to take on RyJo this year and next.

For a 37 year old UFA goalie. And a 35 year old UFA winger? Both that they may not re-sign. Hanzel has potential. I wouldn't write him off as a "nothing prospect" just yet. Maybe change the second to a first for next year? Idk what to tell ya man. Don't think you're getting much higher than that for two UFA's, both of whom are on the wrong end of 30 that aren't exactly lightly the world on fire this season.

That's fair. I was afraid of that lol.

Oh man. I know I really want them to utilize Hanzel! I think he could be a sneaky pick. But it just looks like they have no plans for him. I hope I'm wrong though.

Both of them will be highly coveted at the deadline if available, and while the Wild may not get more than that, they can at least get a 2nd in the 2024 draft, not three drafts out

it's sadly looking like Beaucage won't even be a star at the AHL level. I'm in the opinion the Habs have a lot of that already.

That's fair. Damn the Avs and their lack of draft picks. I still maintain Hanzel would be a welcomed addition though.

I think and hope you are. I don't think they expected to see what they did from him at training camp/preseason and their hands were tied with all the dmen they signed prior. They even put him on his off-hand and he did just as well. Still work to be done but him and Clurman were pleasant surprises. Keeping him in jr instead of echl was more about the "elc slide"

it doesn't really matter how coveted either player is, they have NMC and will only waive them for teams they want to go to. Which means what you're getting in return for either of them is a lot less than open market.

Regardless, this trade is not what it will take for MAF and the avs don't need maroon. I think a 3rd might do it tbh, not with all that retention, but a 3rd across the board.

You keep saying this as if it matters. Those teams they'll waive for still have to pay the price the Wild want in order to get those players. And there will still be multiple teams in the running for them.

okay, then the Wild let these players walk next season with nothing in return and no playoffs to show for it. If you want to remain the middling team the Wild have been, then have at it.

Yeah because the 4th or 5th round pick you think you can get Fleury for is going to be the difference in the Wild's future lol

Don't go and look at when Kaprizov was drafted i guess. Or Kovalenko for the Avs, who is going to immediately slot into their 3rd line in April after the KHL season, drafted 6th round. Some assets are better than none, and it's not like the Avs can give up much more than a 2024 4th or a 2025 3rd if you're looking for picks. That's kinda all they have.

I don't really care about helping the Avs, and frankly I don't think the Wild front office does either. You're not the only team in the league.

I guess if there is one thing to take away from my terrible trade suggestions, it's not to sleep on Jeremy Hanzel. Haha. Between him, Gulyayev, Behrens, and the rise of Malinski this season. I think the avs have a lot more options than some people think that they do. I do hope Hanzel pans out though. I remember him in camp.

Habs probably accept this even though Evans does a good job as a 4th line C at a reasonable cost.

The Avs aren't, but if MAF only has one team on his list then we kinda are for this trade lol. If BG has an option of a middle round pick (maybe a prospect thrown in) or nothing and the result is the same, I would be pissed if i were a Wild fan.

Kinda done with this, it'll happen or it won't, i dont really care either way as an Avs fan, but it's not going to be a blockbuster trade for a 1B goalie rental with a NMC at the TDL lol

No they don't. Montreal has two centers who are done for the season and are likely to trade a 3rd at the deadline. They need someone to play center a lot more than that return.

This year doesn’t mean anything for the Habs. They’ll trade Monahan, but will get Newhook back at some point who can always finish the season at C.
So they could call up Andersson and be okay.
It would be a terrible center line but who cares - they want a high draft pick again
