Realistic 2C Plus Big Save Mentor For 40

Created by: earl08
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 10, 2024
Published: Feb. 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Playoff roster. Georgiev really needs a mentor to teach him how to make Big Saves. 40 is too measured & is missing that winning, All In mentality on a consistent basis. We saw him aggressively challenge & beat McDavid in the All Star comp to win the whole thing; he needs to mix it up more for the Avs. This current stretch of poor skater play is when a Money Goaltender lifts the team up. Fleury would be the perfect mentor to help Georgiev become an Alpha Male Winner & bring home another Cup to COL. Fleury just got healthy and beat the Pens Friday night. CMac: you know what to do!

With MAF, i think the wild could get upwards of a first for him with the goalie market so hot, as an Oilers fan I think our GM would be a 2nd and a 3rd for sure.

The Avs need to go All In, especially with Parise and Kovalenko playing for cheap, Drouin too. Byram could be gone this summer before Toews' big deal kicks in. I wouldn't care what the cost was: MAF is the perfect guy to guide Georgiev to the next level. I suppose, if CMac was forced to choose Backup Goalie MAF or 2C rental, I'd prefer MAF. Mikko or Drouin can play C in a pinch & the Avs wingers are very strong, assuming Nuke comes back & Kovalenko's wrist is healed, even without Mr. Handsome Captain Swedish Dreamboat.

I'd offer a first for him. Maybe even add a 4th or another prospect for retention

Of course Cgicago is going to ask for a 2nd rounder attached. At least, all the fans on this website will tell you that.

Love the flower trade! If it means a first and another mid round pick I'd still definitely do it.

I'm still not the biggest Henrique fan, but realistically, he's the guy right? Good deal

Of course we're going to want a 2nd. We don't view RyJo as a positive asset. Or should I say we view the cap space Colorado gains in this trade as more valuable than RyJo which makes him a negative asset to us. We're not winning anything in the next couple of years so even if he produces, the best we could hope for is to retain in a trade to maximize his trade value next deadline if he's healthy.

Any idea how many times a team has traded a 1st for a goalie? Three. And an old MAF that isn't good anymore doesn't net a 1st.

    ^ ^ THIS ^ ^

We don't want him. So the transaction becomes "How much is that cap space worth to COL". If a large market like CHI ever becomes a cheap dumping ground like AZ, that is probably a good indicator that the league is in big trouble.

There isn't a GM in the league who is taking Ryjo for free.

Kent Hughes will want a 1st to take him, and then he will turn around and trade him for a 1st at next years deadline because he is a creepy trade wizard.

Joe Sakic is also a trade wizard (we know he has a great influence with CMac)

I just realized MAF has an NMC, where he chooses where to go. This will prob push the value down significantly
