Mittlestadt is showing that he's consistently a 60+ point per season player. That's easily a 6 Million value player, no reason in the world that Buffalo wouldn't match.

Even if they wanted to move him for assets, they could trade him to other teams for better picks.

Colorado dreaming.

Obviously. Have you paid any attention to him since 2021? Or know anything of Montreal's needs?

Keep dreaming, Montreal said no. The last thing that Montreal need right now is another LD.

They have Ghule, Matheson and also Hutson who will come next season.

Quite easily... This isn't to say MTL might not have any interest, but they have way too many LD at the moment. Matheson easily slots above him right now, Habs have too much of an investment in Guhle for Girard to slot above him, and Girard at $5mil on their 3rd pairing just doesn't work. All this without considering Hutson is signing his ELC in a few months, Struble has been solid with great top 4 potential, and Xhekaj and Harris are still around as depth LD...

I'm not like other Hab fans that would say 0% chance. But I can picture a hypothetical situation where MTL trades 1 or 2 LD this summer for young top 6 forwards (a Guhle package for Zegras, which I would hate. Or Harris and Xhekaj or Struble get dealt) and MTL is not ready to give the keys to the PP to Hutson yet, then yes...Girard could be of interest.

girard would be the habs best d man. by a wide margin. lane hutson is a d man that's under 160 pounds. don't count on him as an NHL player.

Habs fans constantly trade Jordan Harris away in their ACGMs because they have an abundance of LhDs, so I don't know how excited they would be at the prospect of adding Girard to Matheson, Guhle, Struble and Xhekaj (plus Harris), and then there's Lane Hutson.

Matheson has been the better defensemen of the 2 for at least the past 3 seasons. look it up yourself.

Just with MTL... Matheson has 74pts in 102games and actually plays solid defensively (which wasn't the case in PIT and FLA).

LMFAO, so your argument is that Hutson at 5'10" and 163 lbs at the age of 20 wouldn't be an NHL D man but then try to argue that Girard at 5'10" and 170 lbs (7 lbs heavier than Hutson) at 25 would be our "best" D man?! ROFLMFAO, can you say hypocrite?! You my friend are the walking, talking definition of hypocrite!

If you actually watched them play like you claim, then you would know it's not even close, Matheson would not only skate circles around Girard but also paste him to the ice cause Girard is a pansy

there isn't really anything that matheson is better at. i'm a fan of neither team. i think you might have some bias.

Going to be a 3rd minimum to dump RJ, if not a 2nd with maybe a 4/5 coming back the other way.

you can lmfao or whatever all you want, but this is pretty simple:
the deck is stacked against undersized d men, and girard looks massive next to hutson - who is about 5'6" - he was drafted at 148, of course i have no idea what his weight is now. can we agree on that? super undersized d men rarely make it? yes, okay good.

Girard did. he's been in the league since he was a teenager and has been a really good NHL player for 7 years.

so ya, i'll take girard, a proven player at 25 over a guy whos playing NCAA with the deck stacked against him - duh.

105 points over the last 3 seasons vs 80 points. Matheson isn't afraid to clear the front of the net, he defends better (you know that primarily responsibility of a defenseman), he skates better, his contract is better, he is bigger, the list really goes on and on and on
