Only 3 big names left this TDL

Hanifin, Henrique, and Markstrom

Now PIT, SEA, and WSH could make things interesting but its a wait and see

Guentzel, Buchnevich, Ullmark?

Even with no expectations on this whole season, even with a roster that needs refreshing, watching this Blues team is maddening. Almost every goal leaked is self infliction, often out of a clear blue sky. They make the hard plays look easy and screw up the most simple plays. Somehow. Inexplicably. People hate Binnington, but cripes, he should be a sympathetic figure by now. And good heavens, they need a real head coach. From outside the organization. Bannister ain't it. He makes all the same mistakes Berube was making, but even more of them. It's exhausting.

I don't see any of those going at the TDL besides maybe Guentzel

Blues aren't actively shopping him and neither is Boston

Like why would Boston trade Ullmark when they may need him in the playoffs if Swayman suffers an injury

Blues would need to be blown away by an offer so he could be a summer move or they may just keep em

Of all the little hints and rumors, I think the thing that im most interested in is the Oilers deal, whatever it is.

They’ve been at 21/23 on the active roster for 2 and a half weeks (or more) pushing their deadline space up.

Last deadline they ended the day at exactly 0 cap space.

I wonder what they’re doing this year, but seems like it will wait until the deadline itself, or close to it.

On a sidenote, David Savard is now the best RHD on the market, so prepare for incoming Savard for 1st +

That's a weird way to say Sean Walker

Jeff Marek Show: Elliotte says Calgary asked Dallas about Stankoven, Bourque & Bischel and were told no. They also valued Grushnikov more than a late 1st rounder in the 2024 draft, based on his development in the AHL so far and what they've seen of him.

They could've gotten a first, but instead took a 20 YO AHL Depth player? lmao

I really like Grushnikov, probably more than most, but in a draft class that is absolutely stacked with defensemen this is shocking. I like the Flames' odds of hitting on a defenseman with that pick, even if it is late

Wasnt there a report that they originally rejected a 2nd + prospect offer from a team.

The **** happened as this is basically the same only a conditional 3rd's there with conditions that seem unlikely

Man Conroy just be taking market values rather than swindle lul

Want to know what ARI is smoking to think Dumba is worth a 1st

That guy is the furthest way from that and should never have been in the convo with Tanev and Walker lul

With what Tanev just got Dumba at most 50% ret should get no more than a 4th

Grushnikov is a DFD, he's not flashy or anything but he's reliable defensively and will easily be able to be paired with an OFD in the future, Grushnikov could become the next Mattias Samuelsson

Sounds like the #flames are going to hang onto Jacob Markstrom.

They want to send the right message to the team.

The right message

We couldnt get Market value and were to polite to swindle

Markstrom could have got them a nice return better than at least Tanev

RIP

Like watch they gonna trade Hanifin for a 1st + 3rd and call it a day

There was one buyer for Markstrom and they only wanted Hainifin and Markstrom as package.

Probably means Hanifin trade has been found. (Or at least a better package than what Devils were offering for Hanifin).

If the flames trade Hanifin they have moved all their ufas who weren’t going to resign.

I think that has to be graded as a success.

Canes and Canucks had trade talks over Pettersson.
Canucks had to seriously consider and elected to attempt getting a contract signed instead.
Faced with the possibility of being traded, Pettersson has allowed contract negotiations to resume instead of waiting until the off season.

Very interesting information.
First, Pettersson could be available and teams will now make serious pitches for him (if they weren't already). Knowing the possibility was close to consideration, there could be a bidding war.
Still think they sign him if at all possible, but it looks like Vancouver is applying pressure to get it done before the deadline and forcing his hand.

I would be shocked if Pete ended up in CAR

As would that team have the stomach to commit 12.5m to him

That team has never been big on spending

Apparently CAR/VAN Pettersson deal involved Necas and KK per Pagnotta. Which raises the question - what was the full deal?
My theory:

To CAR:
Elias Pettersson
Arshdeep Bains
2024 SJS 6th

To VAN:
Martin Necas
Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Alexander Nikishin
2024 CAR 1st
2024 PHI 2nd

Man that would have sucked for Van. I would have asked for way more prospects
