This is what i would do if anyone responds with better criticism say it. As an islander fan its time to rebuild move on from Lou however we need to build around Barzal, Horvat, Sorokin, and the D-core (except Mayfield). Maybe rebuild for 2 years and go from there or use the cap space i created in this to compete again

Chicago could certainly afford Lee but, I think you are going to need to give up an asset to dump that contract either way.

A lot of these are in favor of the islanders and probably wouldn’t get these returns

Lee is a cap dump to the Hawks (or any team) at 34 years old this summer, with a $7M cap hit for 2 more seasons, and on pace for a big 32 points this season. They aren't paying to take Lee, and not even taking him for free, not a chance.

Yea it would definitely need more to move his terrible contract but idk if its a huge amount

Depends on what other options the Hawks have with their cap space. There are going to be a couple teams desperate to clear cap space so you may have pay more than you would think. I would want at the very least a 3rd coming with him. Maybe more though.

I think its definitely possible them and the sharks are the only other teams that would take contracts rn in there rebuild maybe something similar to the bailey trade then just buy him out

Some could in my opinion depends maybe the JGP or Varly ones are a little bias but the others i think are fair

Lee is a cap dump so that requires a pick going to Chicago. I don’t think JGP is worth much. Frost could probably bring back a 1st for the Flyers and Wahlstrom has no value

And you have to keep in mind of the NTC/M-NTC. Like there’s no way Lee waives for Chicago

He could waive it, idk its similar to what others are posting. JGP is a decent 3rd liner and retained i think the kraken could make this move. Frost trade i think is fair

Well for comparison, it cost the Islanders a 2nd round pick to dump one year of Bailey at $5m. The Hawks bought him out for just over $3.8m.

Lee with 2 seasons at $7m would cost the Hawks (or any other team) $6.9m to buyout. So the price to trade him could arguably cost the islanders 2 x 2nd round picks or a 1st round pick.

Right, with at least a 2nd round pick attached to lee. He is not a buyout candidate.

Yeah, the Hawks are one of the very few teams who could swallow Lee's AVV. A trade MIGHT be similar to the Bailey deal last year, but the Hawks garnered a future 2nd round pick out of that. The actual cash payout to Lee exceeds $10mm in the next two years (including nothing for the balance of this year if that's when this might happen) - more than double Bailey's cost. I could see a future year 1st round pick being needed to take Lee's hit, as I'll bet a LOT of teams need cap space now to make TDL deals. All IMHO, of course!

I would only do a 2nd round pick if I’m Chicago if the Islander retain 50%.

Maybe its a mix of the ladd trade and the bailey trade but its gonna take a lot to move it but definitely worth it so we can get guys we need in free agency

Unfortunately, us Hawks fans know exactly how you feel... We had to walk the plank SO MANY TIMES with players/picks we didn't necessarily want to sell, to stay cap compliant. I've said it before, but it still hurts that we had to "thrown in" Teravainen (sp?) for CAR to take Bickel's cap dump. (Was prior to anyone learning about Bickel's disease...)

Bad fit for Reilly. He might be Carolina's 8th best D man. Wrong team. I don't think your values off at a 4th, but it would make negative sense for Carolina to do that

I have no idea why MN would want to make that deal, Ohgren alone is too much of an ask for a team that is a long way away from a real cup run. If anything, MN probably sells kaprisov in a couple of years to align with some of our youngsters.
