Description
Caps might close in on a spot and if they are close after next week, I say buy. They would still have to sell to make room. No big risks, but might make a difference and I would like to see GMBM reward these guys if this play of late is the way they are now.

I don't mind if Caps don't want to sell because they are playing well, but they shouldn't be spending anything on rentals. If they are going to trade for somethig it needs to be like a Sandin; a young skilled player that will be here for awhile.

And Bear is great, don't send him anywhere. Not his fault he's paired with useless Edmundson. Trade Edmundson.

Also Kuz counts as LTIR so you can open up a ton of space with that. And sounds like Oshie will be headed there soon as well.

I think those are pretty fair trades. Not sure if it makes sense for all teams involved, i.e. CAR, but they're certainly fair returns.

But it took a level of player like Orlov (with Hathaway) to get that 1st rounder to then trade. I don't think we have any guys to move that would get a 1st.

Bear hasn't done much to earn being called "great," but I think he's got a lot to prove and he's going to do very well here next season. He's coming off a serious injury and surgery, and I think that he will end up being a solid addition to the blue line. There's zero reason to trade him away in a move like this. Agree 100% that Edmundson needs to go - he's had flashes of decent play and someone will overpay for him because of what he brings, but he really hasn't been great in Washington overall.

It wasn't. He's great. Rough start but expected coming back from injury and playing with a pilon in Edmundson. He'll be fine.

Dowd could get a 1st. So could Mantha and Lindgren possibly (with other additons like eating money and taking back money), but if they are going to go for it they won't trade those guys, so you have a point.

Yep it's looking that way. Looking back, this signing seems unnecessary.

Yep, that's exactly right. I hope BM is deft enough to find a young up and comer like he did with Sandin like we are all hoping. But if it's not available, I think enhancing the roster like this without getting rid of the few good prospects and 1st rounder would be a big win. Again, I think it would be some goodwill to the team without mortgaging top assets.

I'm not sure the Sharks would be very interested in Alex Alex. They're near the contract limit and have way too many LD in their system. I think they'd prefer like a 3rd and 4th

The Canes took a shot on him, but it was pretty evident soon that he couldn’t skate at the speed/quickness necessary to play the way the Canes want to. He also isn’t good enough defensively to make up for the foot speed issue.

He’s pretty good offensively, but no where near good enough to support the other deficiencies.

San Jose will do it without requiring the soda machine to be stocked! We'll even send back a bag of pucks!

Smells like a bidding war to me! Okay, so no to the pop machine request and we'll throw in a bag of pucks and add an autographed (Alex) Vlasic puck in there as well!

Hmm...Marc-Edouard will get his cousin to sign a GAME USED puck for him and we'll include autographed game used pucks from BOTH Vlasics...and a hot plate. (last bit was for the Simpsons fans out there)
