Yeah NJD isn’t funding this entire deal for you

From the Bruins POV, trading Ullmark and a 2nd for Lindholm and Ned looks fine on paper, but far less fine when you break it down to what they're supposed to be getting for Ullmark: Lindholm and Nedeljkovic for Casey, a 1st, a 2nd, Holtz, and Schmid is like 2 times the value that Vancouver paid for him in the first place. Letting alone that no goalie is worth that, why should Boston pay an outrageous premium for a gut who has done worse since moving to Vancouver?

    1. NSH declines. Not adding a winger on the wrong side of 30 for the guy who has been Josi's best partner throughout this year (although inconsistently due to too many D-man). If NSH is adding, it is likely to be someone who is under 30 and can be on the team in a more long-term capacity (e.g. Kalieyev or Vatrano both come to mind).

    2. I don't have a dog in the NJD fight, but if Saros couldn't get that package, there isn't even a remote chance that Ullmark fetches that. If that deal had been available for Saros, I'm sure Trotz would have pulled the trigger on that before NSH went on their 8-game win streak.

Yeah all these trades favor Pittsburgh heavily. Devils are really getting some terrible value for getting Ullmark for 1.25 seasons

This is a bad deal for Van. We trade our top 6 young LW, the guy we traded for to play in the top 6. For a 3rd line Center we don't need( if we move Lindholm we'd drop Suter back to 4th line C and have Blueger move back to 3rd line) a less physical veteran PDG. And one improvement to the wing. While Guentzel is a very good player this will hurt the team more. Going forward.

I think the likelihood of getting Hoglander or DPetey out of Van is quite slim, especially both, for a rental. The Canucks appear to have DPetey in a similar untouchable range as Willander and Lekkerimaki, based on local reporting/insiders. And Hoglander is too valuable at his cap hit. This would hamper them too much in the future, and from everything GMJR and co. have said, they appear to value future years - this isn't a one-year, 'throw-everything-at-the-wall' situation.

Hard pass for the Canucks, we aren't dealing Lindholm and Hoglander for Guentzel, that hurts our depth too much

    What is NJD getting?

Holtz, Casey, Schmid and a top-10 pick gets a lot more than Ullmark and 3rd. Pens would have to add a pretty significant piece…and maybe two…to balance this out.
