trade some of the youth to the habs

Created by: MTLaveragefan
Team: 2024-25 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 8, 2024
Published: Mar. 8, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the Canes want to resign Guentzel, Necas, Jarvis, Pesce, Skjei, Teräväinen, Noesen, Martinook and Chatfield or any replacement player, they will have a hard time!

RFA YEARS CAP HIT
Jarvis, Seth 8 $8,000,000

Necas, Martin 8 $7,850,000

Drury, Jack 5 $5,850,000

Suzuki, Ryan 1 $800,000

Smith, Ty 1 $800,000

UFA YEARS CAP HIT
Guentzel, Jake 7 $9,800,000

Pesce, Brett 5 $6,800,000

Skjei, Brady 5 $6,800,000

Teräväinen, Teuvo 5 $6,800,000

With those signature, you are -$16,550,000 over the cap.

Even if you don't resign Guentzel and you get good AAV deals... You are still over the cap.

As a habs fan who was witness to the game yesterday, I would be VERY inclined to purchase one of your fine young forward. You have 2 juicy RW I'd like to acquire in Necas and Jarvis.

I understand that Jarvis is untouchable (for good reasons), same probably for Necas, but I'm sure we could shake him loose with the correct price.

Let me know what you think below:

Pesce will leave, Jarvis will bridge, and the rest of the pieces will fall in place as necessary.

but won't make the Canes budge.

Roy isnt. They are not dealing their best francophone prospec in a decade

I'd rather keep Necas than Turbo. But if the right deal comes around, I could see Necas on the move. Also, idk if Drury gets that much and Skjei is likely walking so the cap isn't a massive issue even with signing Guentzel.

For Necas ? they are... You don't say no to a 80p potential top 6 player, he is exactly what we needon our top 6

Caufield/Suzuki/Slaf
Lindstrom/Dach/Necas

You would still want to get a replacement no? and they are expensive on the FA market... the good new - habs have a TON of LHD to replace him with.

I agree, but let's leverage our surplus before swapping out players that fit a need. We have a logjam at D and a ton of picks and prospects.

Good for us, the whole of CAR's Dcore needs to be resigned.

Maybe a first, Matheson and a prospect could do it.

I tried a Matheson trade, they value him as a 2nd lol, not worth it. GM knows his value more than those forums

I would pacakge a Matheson + Newhook + Prospect for Necas but the cap is a problem too

Orlov was signed last season as the replacement. He'll probably bump up to the 2nd pair and we'll sign a cheaper 3LD.

Why would Carolina do that when they are trying to win a cup?

Id do the 2025 1st in the offseason but the 2024 1st is nearly untouchable. Thats a top 6 pick and everyone in the top 6 has higher upside than Necas

Celebrini
Demidov
Lindstrom
Parekh
Levshunov
Eiserman
Catton

Thats 5 players 100% better upside and 2 more who also have higher upside but bigger risks

80 point potential? Hes on pace for 63 points this year and is a career 56 point pace player.

Hes 25 years old hes a 50-65 point guy

Roy in his career is already ahead of necas at 20

71p already once, and on pace for the same if he hadn't miss games.
Also 6'2

No hes not.

In the 5 seasons hes played 10 games his 82 game pace is 46, 63, 42,71, 63.

He has only hit even a 65 point pace once. These were also all seasons that he was older than roy currently is.

Roy already has 6 points in his last 10 games and is trending upwards.

Its not out of the question that hes a better player than necas 2 years from now as hes already better than him at the same point in their careers
