Seeing how he has been playing lately, Montour isn’t worth 1RD money. If he asks for too much, I could see Zito letting him walk this offseason. I don’t trust Ekblad to stay healthy though. I have a feeling that we might trade for a top RD this offseason and move Ekblad as well.

I guess it depends on desperation. I don't think I would mind giving him 7m short term, especially with cap going up massively, but there's going to be a team that gives him 6 or 7 years at the AAV.

I highly doubt Carolina lets both their UFA goes go, but they have talented blueliners in the system so term might be a big factor for them. Pesce seems too valuable for them to walk away from especially with Burns approaching 40 and the end of his contract up soon.

The market for those guys will be pretty robust so term with $6-8 million AAV will be on the table easily.

Maybe a guy like Zadorov can slip in a higher $ amount in the next tier but if he wants to go to a good team in a big market (Boston, Toronto, NY/NJ) he'll be lucky to get $4 million and be in the same grouping as Tinordi, Desharnais, Myers, Lyubushkin, Dumba, or Forbort; teams would rather have OEL, Dillon, or Hakanpää; IMO.

I have always been completely for putting Thomas and Kyrou on separate lines. We have two elite transition forwards, it seems silly to play them together. There's only one puck on the ice at a time. I'd rather have two lines with an elite transition forward than one. Especially considering the fact that transition is how we score the most.
