Solution to having an aging and declining centre is to...get another aging and declining centre. Brilliant.

I figure Robertson will be on waivers before the hawks see what they have in Taige Harding. I would just keep the depth D.

Doesn't move the needle for Backlund either, let alone retained.

Genuinely curious about the pushback on the Robertson trade - he's 22 with a good pedigree scoring at 0.5ppg/20 goal pace this season with limited usage. His age fits the timeline for Chicago's rebuild and has the potential to emerge as a legit top-six scoring winger on a team with less depth than Toronto. Why is a late 2nd and a B prospect such an unreasonable return?

Chicago lacks an appetite to do this.

First he is undersized. Sure there has been plenty of instances of undersized players proving they have what it takes , however the Hawks have drafted a bunch of undersized players as of late & it is pretty easy to understand that too many undersized players are not a great recipe for success especially when looking towards the playoffs. Second he has played 51 games total in 19-20, 27 games in 20-21, 38 games in 21-22, 17 games in 22-23 & 53 games with n 23-24 (so far). Only thing he has proven is he is injury prone. Until he proves he can stay healthy & in a lineup the potential you speak of is more wishful thinking than a guarantee.
