If the pick isn't the 1st overall selection, Habs said no.

Slaf is a special player.

There's a lot of debate after the #1 OA pick, so I could understand why something like this might be proposed if the Hawks don't get the #1 pick, BUT I doubt it would occur via players/prospects. It's more likely it would be a pick(s) trade. If MTL wants to trade up from 6 to 2...if we ended today. Then it would likely be the #2 going to MTL and then the #6, #25, & something like the 2027 MTL 2nd. BUT even then it would require both MTL to want to jump up for someone specific AND at the same time CHI would have to think picks 2-6 are pretty much the same. I doubt it happens like you mention in the description, but it's fun to discuss.

Whether that pick is 1st overall or not, CHI declines.

Ooof, I love it and hate it at the same time... honestly probably a both decline scenario. Hawks fans been declining everything for a while now so we know they won't be happy lol

I think the Hawks either take Celebrini 1st or they secure a #1 RHD of the future in Levshunov or they add some needed size and a power forward in Lindstrom.

I also don’t see the Habs offering up Slafkovsky after seeing the progress he has made this season.

That's because everyone either wants us to pay for their garbage or wants to buy our players for peanuts. It's not hard to decline every trade when they are almost always proposed in bad faith and without considering CHI's current position and status. Not to mention CHI just isn't at a point in their rebuild where they should be ready to make moves like those that most ACGM's have proposed.

If the Hawks land #1 or #2, Hawks say no. At pick #3, Hawks strongly consider but Habs say no.

I know this issue all too well. Anyone in bleu blanc rouge inherently carries less value than the rest of the league it seems. I'm just ribbing, I've had to keep away for a while because the bs ACGMs on here are off the wall insanity most of the time - my own fanbase included lately...

I think at 2 the Hawks should take this. The way slaf is trending right now... that's likely the ceiling for Lindstrom if everything pans out well. Demidov is a different type of player but you have to be a little concerned with his disinterest in playing the defensive zone. If you want to take a Levshunov at 2, then I'd understand. Slafkovsky would be the absolute perfect complement to Bedard on the wing. I just think with the selection of guys you're drafting here at 2-4, if they turn out the way Slaf looks to be trending, thats a win

Our 1st overall pick from 2 years ago who had 17 points in his last 20 games at 19 years old is hardly garbage. His best comparable is Rantanen who's development curve he's ahead of.

Roy is also a nice top 9, ideally top 6 forward.

Nah. It's not just MTL fans. Although, with their relatively large fan base, we do get a lot of bad ones from them. But fans of all sports in general, and I'm not speaking about this specific trade, I'm speaking generally. People see a rebuilding team and just think it's a dumping ground and that we should be happy to take their garbage. But, yeah, I should probably take a break, too. haha.

I know. I felt dirty even posting it. Slaf is so good and Roy seems like a diamond in the rough. But how do you turn down Celebrini unless you already have Bedard...

I felt dirty reading it... Celebrini would be so difficult to turn down but I just don't think I could do that to Slaf personally, he's developing so well and the chemistry on that line is getting better every game. I'm loving what I see from him. He's still gotta speed up some of the decision making and shots but that will come. I'd be interested in trading for Celebrini (as would every hockey fan) but I don't think I'd touch that line to do it.

Haha. Exactly! I get the same way sometimes. I'll stop posting for a while and then I'll re-engage and get jaded all over again and back off. It's a vicious cycle.
