Description
This is just for fun. Read below.

Have seen Seider included in a few trades recently and thought I'd put together a few trade comps for him. These are not offers nor recommendations...just some of the more similar trades should the market be called for him...there aren't many that are perfect comps, so I had to stretch for these. (for the record, I do not believe Seider will be or ought to be traded) THIS IS JUST FOR FUN.

Since there aren't many great comps to use for stud young dmen getting dealt at his age, I tried to find an examples of the more common scenarios for bigger trades: (1) One or more players is hitting RFA, (2) Its a Dman for forward deal. I included some older ones too...again these are just for fun. Hard to use trades from 1982 as comps in real life today.

A few other fun ones I considered...
-- 2024 ANA/PHI: Jamie Drysdale, 2024 2nd for Cutter Gauthier
-- 1999 NYI/TOR: Bryan Berard, 6th for Felix Potvin, 6th
-- 2016 CBJ/NSH: Seth Jones for Ryan Johansen
-- 2006 ANA/EDM: Chris Pronger for Joffrey Lupul, Ladislav Smid, 2007 1st, 2008 1st, 2008 2nd
-- 1994 HRT/BOS: Glen Wesley for 1995 1st, 1996 1st, 1997 1st
-- 1996 OTT/NYI/TOR: Byran Berard, Martin Straka, Don Beaupre for Wade Redden, Dominic Rhodes
-- 1990 STL/WSH: Scott Stevens for five 1st round picks (1991-95) (but not a trade)

Enjoy...if you have any others to add, put in comments.

I would hope NYR says no. But that package isn’t out of the question. DET probably says no also. Mo is great and Raymond has more value today than the other 2 RW.

I'm gonna refrain from commenting on most of these but I need to take the time to state that the suggestion that Jamie Drysdale is even in the same ballpark value-wise as Seider is wild tears of joy Like, you could add three 1sts to Drysdale and I'd still refuse.

I did. The point I'm making is that for a trade to be worth calling a comparable, the players involved have to be within some reasonable range of similarity. Otherwise, what's the point of it? You can say just for fun, but I think the thought experiment would be both more fun & compelling if it didn't include such an outlier.

Drysdale one is just the most recent...and I figured someone else will bring it up (RHD #6 in 2019 vs RHD #6 in 2020), so I included.

If you have a more fitting comp, please share

Huge fan of Moritz but NYR has Schneider and Fox, so no thanks. I could see myself upgrading over Kakko but not at the expense of K'Andre Miller and Gabe Perreault.

Your Edmonton trade is WAY off. Ekholm is probably the best 2-way defender in the league right now, Draisaitl is a top-5 center. Nothing in the Bure trade come close to this package, nor does the return from Detroit come close in value.

Your Edmonton trade is WAY off. Ekholm is probably the best 2-way defender in the league right now, Draisaitl is a top-5 center. Nothing in the Bure trade come close to this package, nor does the return from Detroit come close in value.

If only we had an example of a player like Ekholm being traded in the recent past to use as a gauge of his value.

@NHLfan10506 what do you think. Unfortunately I think it would be impossible to find a trade to use as a comparable for Mattias Ekholm's value. If only

You seem to have misunderstood my point. Where is the "Ekholm equivalent" in this list?

                                  Comp:
                                  FLA/VAN (1999)

                                  Pavel Bure
                                  Bret Hedican
                                  Brad Ference

                                  *********

Also, Bure had publicly requested a trade and had sat out for half a season, instead returned to Russia to train there. His value is very different from Draisaitl's present value.

There 3 trade comps here based on pre 2000 trades and the NHL was so different that a comparison doesn't really work.

Ironically, I think rather than K'Andre Miller as the Dougie comp for the first trade, I would say you could use Adam Fox.

                                  Did you read the intro?

                                  yes

Raymond and Seider for that package is laughable.

Raymond just put up 72 points as a 21 year old (turned 22 late in the season)

The ekholm equivalent is a 1st+basically nothing. Which is what Ekholm was literally traded for, last year.

                                  Ekholm for 1st+Cossa

                                  Seider for Drai
