It Could Be 3 to 0 For Carolina

Created by: edeangel84
Team: 2024-25 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: May 11, 2024
Published: May 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Igor is the reason this series is 3-0 the other way. The Canes have shown they have the better 5-5 team. The Rags have the best goalie in the league and they’ve won the special teams.

1 Keep Rod! You’re not finding a better coach.

2 Trade KK. You can’t pay him that contract and afford to resign other more important players.

3 Freddie has been good… but it’s time for him to move on. Go with Kochetkov and find a cheaper backup.

4 Move on from Burns.

Tarasov is likely to be the Jackets starter going into next year. How does he not have a place there anymore?

I would 100% MUCH rather KK than Fast. He's invisable an he's only getting worse. He is no longer a 2.4m player, and would much rather Jackson Blake over him in the lineup. BTW wtheck is he doing NOT in your line-up? He's a great player and deserves to be in the show already. Blake >>>> Comtois, Fast (and arguably) Duhaime.

Kids always need time in the AHL unless they’re the elite talents.

    EW, ew and ew.

Rod needs to go. Game 2 was UNACCEPTABLE. His system has proven to be nothing but a fever dream, it's never had any kind of playoff success. He's got as many 3rd round game wins in his tenure as the BUFFALO SABRES. He needs to go.

KK needs to stay. You're selling low on him right now, let him rebound next year, and if he does more than that great, but he is not worth moving. Especially not for Rielly Smith.

That Freddie trade is awful. Why would you move him? He's a bona fide starter, top 10 G in the NHL and you want to move him for scraps? No.

Pesce's not coming back, Drury is making a tad much here. Jarvis isn't getting 6 years. He's getting bridged, or he's getting 8. Probably bridged so the cap hit comes down.

Blake will be fine in the NHL. Him and Nadeau probably make the roster next year.

I’m not again him as a player which is why I’d be interested in acquiring him as a Pens fan. I’m against anyone paying their 4C almost 5M a year.

Out of camp? I very much doubt that. Again they will surely play and I’m not questioning them as prospects but this site doesn’t understand how teams handle prospects. You don’t throw college kids straight into the NHL from day 1 very often.

    The Canes got Burns for a 3rd + scraps 2 years ago but now - at 39 🤯 - he’s worth a 1st 😂. Just ridiculous

    100%.

Tarry has never been on the block. He and Greaves are the likely 1A/1B of the future. Hell, before his injury, Tarry was on a stretch where he was out-playing most Gs in the league.

There’s a future where Elvis is traded/bought-out and CBJ need a one-year stop-gap guy so Greaves can get his last year in AHL, but I don’t see them paying much to get a guy like Andersen.

I didn’t give that trade much thought to be honest, just a need for the leafs.

Burns is 39 and the Leafs don't have many prospects and one third to half of their D-Core needs to be replaced, they are not going to give a 1st for him.

Like Caniac2000 said Andersen is a bonafide starter, they are better off keeping him and Kotchekov and going with the hotter glove than going with Kotchekov and another young goalie with the hopes of one them out plays Shesterskin. If they move Andersen then they should be getting an upgrade or a similar goalie like Saros or Ullmark. However, their assets are better spent elsewhere unless Andersen drops off next year AND Kotchekov fails to prove that he can be the starter. Better to just keep Andersen for his final year and see how things play out.

Adding Rielly Smith might not be a bad idea, but moving out KK for him would be. Smith could likely be had for just a 3rd+5th @50% or FC at full hit since he doesn't want to be in Pittsburgh and he didn't play up to his contract.

    Edit:

They are still probably going to look for longer-term solutions even if he could be had for a late pick, especially considering they don't have too much cap to work with.

the penguins are not taking on that KK contract. get out of here with that.

NO team wants a 6 year contract on a 3rd line player. Especially one on an over paid contract at almost 5 mil per.
    Forget that.
The best I would do for PIT is a one for one swap, Rakell for KK.
They can take our struggling player on a 5 mil cap hit for the next 4 years for their struggling player on a 4.8 mil cap hit for the next 6 years.

Ya you aren’t getting it… they played a game at the end of a season like often happens with college kids. If you look at Hobey winners many needed SOME AHL time, Gionta, Nyquist, Kunitz, Kyle Connor… all needed some AHL time. It’s very normal.

What’s the risk for us? We have no option for a 3C. Our two centers are about to be 37 and 38. Yager might be a 2C or RW. We don’t have an answer to that yet.

If I'm Carolina, there is NO WAY I'm trading Burns. He's on an excellent contract, and I'd take him over Pesce any day.

While fair, how many of them were not as far along as Blake is? That's the key point here. Blake's not going to need AHL time

Cute lol. After 60+ minutes, NYR usually win no matter how we play. Sure CAR has Rods energy, but being locked out of our slot and shooting from the outside is harmless. Then your D can't handle our puck mastery.
    It could be 4 - 0 NYR
