If Chytil Is Going To Be On LTIR Past The Trade Deadline
Vatrano at 50% retained is probably worth the Rangers’ first since he has another year, but Othmann or Kakko would be a nonstarter from the Rangers’ POV. I think the Rangers could package their first with other assets to get someone better who is a UFA, like Lindholm. It wouldn’t make sense to pay a premium for Anaheim to retain an extra year since there will be a ton of UFA RW in 2024.
Henrique at 50% retained is worth at least a 2nd and a middling prospect.

Even a 2nd might be tough but he is behind some really good defensemen.

Better Lundkvist Is The 7th D Than Traded For a 2nd
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Gauthier is worthless, not even an nhler. Kravstov couldn’t make the lineup so he left, who knows if he will this season though he should. Lundqvist is behind Fox, Trouba and Schneider all on the right side. On the left they have Miller and lindgren ahead of him. There’s a lot jam after that. It’s a long road to get into that lineup and teams know that. He can go off to Sweden and be useless for NYR when they want that high of a return.</div></div>
Gauthier's an NHLer, he just has to put the pieces together. New York are awful with their forward development. See Chytil, Lafreniere, Kakko, all who have not reached their potential.
Kravtsov left because of issues with the old management group. That was made fairly clear. You try to make the case Kravtosv isn't good enough to make the team yet he's made the Rangers team before. It's a terribly uninformed take. Either that or it is lazy. Either way, I don't think it is a justifiable take.
Lundqvist is retired. If you're trying to understand why Lundqvist isn't playing for a RD spot, he's 40. Nils Lundkvist started last year as their 3RD, and they kept chopping and changing, eventually they settled on Schnieder, but Braden Schneider is by no means a lock for that position. Lundkvist's underlyings are actually better than Schnieders. It makes no difference since showing underlying numbers to Chris Drury is like showing a chimpanzee a telescope, but again, this take is lazy and illinformed. Lundkvist may return to Sweden with Lulea, and he'll go back to being one of the most dominant defensemen in the history of the SHL. That won't hurt his value. It'll only enhance it. New York have 5 more years of team control. There's no reason for Drury to sell for anything less than market value on someone that is still considered one of the best defenders to have not made the jump to the NHL full time.

This is the right sentiment with the wrong reasoning. He's more than happy to play in New York, but he'd prefer to be moved somewhere he isn't behind Jacob Trouba or Adam Fox. They should easily get back a great C prospect for him. You are trying to argue his value is hurt, but that's bull. He's team controlled for the next 5 ish years. Lundkvist has no leverage, and Drury has been very vocal about how the Rangers will not move him if the valuation isn't met. Look at Kravtsov or Gauthier. Both want out, neither value has been met, both are still in New York.

Consistently top 15 in scoring in the NHL? Ok, which years did he finish in the top 15 in scoring? Answer is None. Is he top 15 right now in the league? Answer is No. The closest he ever got was 17th in 19-20. How does that equate to CONSISTENTLY TOP 15?

Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AJC13</b></div><div>Your proposed Rangers deal is a better offer than the deal Buffalo finally accepted. Buffalo all along until the end wanted four players / draft picks equal to four 1st round picks, but settled for one late round 1st round pick and two players that I highly doubt any team would trade a first round pick for. The swapping of Buffalo's 3rd round pick for Vegas' 2nd round pick is like propaganda being sold to the Buffalo fans to make the trade look better than it actually was, because management believes the fans of Buffalo are not smart enough to realize that there's very little difference between a late 2nd round pick and an early 3rd round pick. Anyway, Just glad Eichel got traded and the Rangers didn't overpay! How frustrating though was it posting trades that Buffalo fans were completely offended with, that turned out to be much more in value than they actually received?</div></div>
The majority of trades on here with Vegas (at least by non-Sabres fans) were substantially less value than what they ended up getting. Tuch is worth a first, and Krebs is a high value Center prospect- you don’t trade those for picks.

Agreed. Now if it were Horvat it might be different because he's a center. But Canucks would probably say no.

There’s no such thing as a 19 man roster lmao. You can’t just have one goalie 💀 what are you gonna do next year when Laf needs a new contract. You need another goalie as well.

Kakko made a considerable jump in terms of play last year. If he keeps up developing as he did last year, he's due to have a solid season. So I'd expect his next contract be in the $3-4M range, or possibly more if NYR is willing to add more term.

That’s not the biggest concern. The biggest concern is contracts like Fox. If Laf takes a big step he will also command a big contract in the year after. This Monahan trade is a very bad idea and luckily it expires after two years.

The problem is you have Adam Fox to pay next year who will likely cost 10 million dollars. You also have Georgiev looking for a new raise. Did I mention Kaapo Kaako needs a new contract? So does Mika Zibanejad. You’re not getting him for cheap this time… Blais, Kratzov. Strome all need new contracts. Just cause it works this year doesn’t mean it works going forward. You should probably spend more time thinking things through next time.

Your correct, but I’m sure it gets waived again, if Seattle explains up front and keeps price in the mix on his next city, I’m assuming price wants a ring or closer to where he grew up, or both if possible.

Actually they changed the rule in the CBA this year. Now when a player waives their NTC or NMC for a trade their protection transfers to the new team as opposed to just disappearing.
