Isles are not gonna retain and give up a first rounder. This is more than Ott gave up for DeBrincat in the first place. Pass

- Feels like Lehner wants out, to come back to a place he likes seems like a fine idea
- Detroit might lose Greiss, replace with a cheap guy on an expiring deal
- Martinez is M-NTC so Seattle might not be blocked

Never trade with the Wild in these threads they'll come screaming about how they have no cap space. That being said, not a fan of parting with Wally just for signing rights

off season moves
Isles won't hold the cap space from Varly. I think the isles can help Vegas out of their jam by taking forwards but if you want Varly you have to have him at full freight. Lehner + Stephenson for Varly and a second rounder? Vegas saves the same amount of money and gets a draft pick out of it.

Love all of these trades for the Hawks. I don't think you'll get a first for Strome and I doubt the Sens are giving up JBD. Other than that they're decently realistic and sets you up for the future well

I'd rather have Kylington, Roslovic, or Beauvillier over Greenway for NYI. Esp with hindsight knowing this group ends up being the core that replaces Tavares

Next Season
I get the Bailey to Minnesota hate, but at this point he's a one year stop-gap at 3 million dollars. MIN could even retain some salary and flip him again if they wanted. I got the hate at the deadline, this one I can see MIN doing just because they might not be able to afford Fiala and the Isles need to clear roster and cap space to make the trade work

Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>LA is not trading Quick. He is playing very well this season. If the Kings make the playoffs, which is looking more and more likely, expect to see Quick in net.</div></div>
Very similar seasons for the two Kings goalies:
Quick: .908/2.68
Petersen: .904/2.60
Varly is at a .911/2.9 with a putrid team in front of him. Idk why you wouldn't try to get younger and give Petersen an actual run and push him into a better position

Optimism
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>I don't think Panik is a guy you necessarily need to move for futures(and especially not retain) - he's making $1.375M for 22-23 and can plug in pretty much anywhere in the lineup. If the team is in the tank again next deadline, I think you easily get a 4/5 for a player like him without retention.
I also think you're being a bit optimistic about how easy it will be to move those Bailey & Palmieri contracts. I don't think the Blues give up a 2nd for him, even at 50% retention - they're hard up against the cap this season and the only big contract coming off for 22-23 is David Perron, plus they have RFAs to re-sign. I think if you drop the Ryan Murray signing and maybe work out some sort of Bailey for Marco Scandella deal, you fill LD3 at a similar price and can possibly get another asset out of St. Louis with the same retention (I'm thinking Bailey 50% retained for Scandella and a pick?)
Palmieri is also a guy I'd consider holding judgment on until the end of the season. He was garbage to start the year, then he was hurt, and now he's come back from injury and looks like a different guy, especially playing with Nelson & Beau. Let that ride out and see if that chemistry keeps building before you give him the Andrew Ladd Exile.</div></div>
Fair point on Palmieri, but I'd rather have Forsberg in an average year than Palmieri in a career year
Panik does not need to be traded but I can see the Isles giving up anyone with value at the deadline just to get quantity of draft picks.
Scandella would be good too, I like Murray and I think he was a miss this past offseason
