Didn't realize that Vancouver was so so so good and full of young talent.

Also can't wait to see the sabres try to fit Skinner, Thompson, Tuch, Quinn, Cozens, Peterka, Kulich, Savoie, Benson, Rosen, Ostlund, Kisakov, Poltapov, Neuchev, Whalberg all in the top 9 good call on that one.

Lastly, Petterson is a legitimate 2 way stud who scored over 100 points this past year. He is easily worth the 10+ AAV price tag IMO</div></div>

Umm are you missing my sarcasm?

I don't see where i say vancover is good ans full of talent.

Im not saying petterson isnt worth 10mil (although i would debate that) only that thry have a 1st line center @ 7 million. They don't "need" petterson and paying 3 1st round prospects that are coming along nicely and buffs next 2 1st seems kinda stupid to double up on 1st line centers and pick up 10mil in salary. Especially when you have actual wholes to fill in the line up. Petterson isnt getting selke votes, he's not known for his team driving leadership, he's average at face offs, and brings np physical presence. In short he's a 1st line center. Thats it. I'd rather have Aho at 9.5. i could probably get close to draisatl on the package being offered here if im looking for guys to break the bank on and spend some of my best assets.
Finally petterson has not gotten his team into the playoffs. No shame in that, most players can't make that big of a differenve for a whole team. Just pointing out he's not one of those players and really not what the sabres need. You wanna trade thompson and a 1st for petterson? I'd talk about that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CuyahogaKid</b></div><div>I think the value of Keller will fluctuate from different people. It’s either going to be too much or not enough.

But I think Kelley will get a similar return to Jack Eichel, and probably more because in this case, he’s heathy, and cheaper cap hit. He will probably get that three to four first round pick valuation in assets.

As for the replacing Quinn with Keller point, the reason why Buffalo does it is because while Scoring is not an issue, Keller is an estabalished superstar in the league now, and if you’re putting him with Tage Thompson and the young group we have, it would be a nightmare to defend. It makes a potent offense even more dominant. And his cap hit actually would fit in easily, because 7 million for what he does is a massive bargain, and will be when the cap goes up, and if Quinn does end up being that good, he will get paid either way.

I included Quinn, because he has a good relationship with Andre Tourigny, while Keller has played for Don Granato. He played for Tourigny in Ottawa for 3 years and I think Arizona would want him regardless as the young roster player component, Alex Tuch in the deal, and yes we do know how Tuch panned out. But at the end of the day, the trade worked out for both sides, and for Buffalo, it’s that home run move to put the team over.

I really couldn’t find anyone else to put in the trade would make sense and work. It’s ironically so interesting that Quinn is hurt right now, just like Tuch was.

If I took Quinn and a first and inserted a prospect, I would likely have to include Savoie or Benson, or Kulich, because Arizona is going to want a premium A prospect for Keller that’s equal to a first rounder, along with another, and they are justified to do so, and I did not want to do that. Quinn was just the perfect piece to insert for a variety of reasons.</div></div>

I'd hold up on designating keller a super star. Im not even sure i'd go star yet. I will give you that he's mpre established then quinn but again if your not improving team defense or face offs what are you doing? Keller on the first line isnt improving the team much. Your even putting him on the off wing. If you want to make a deal like this you should be looking at nylander.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>If you actually think that replacing Mitts with Coyle is the move that “wins us a Cup” then i think you’re crazy bud
I’m a Sabres fan too
But Coyle is NOT the “missing piece” by any means

Frankly, he’s not even “good”</div></div>

Frankly this isnt a sabres post.
This is a post to look at the bruins adding mathews to stay relevant and if they can make it work with the cap while still having a solid team.
My point that mitts is just another developing talent on a team that needs to trade its potential for actually developed talent is valid if they want to get anywhere without sheer luck.
Coyle is a valid middle 6 forward in the nhl. He can penalty kill and play any forward position soundly and dependably. It will not be his fault you lost games. At 5.25
He's a bit over paid and never I said nor will i say he wins a team the cup. But mitts aint that guy either and right now he has more developing to do before he's anywhere near the complete player coyle is and when he becomes a dependable player you can put anywhere in your line up and know he'll handle all his responsibilities we'll see where his point totals are at and if he really does have anywhere near the carear of coyle who looks like a shoe in for 1000 nhl games played. He's not "the missing piece" he's a missing piece on the sabres roster. If the sabres arent planning to over pay like hell for a few pieces to shore up thier line up then what the heck has thier drafting been about the last 2 years? It's what you end up having to do when you take best player avaiable imstead of a position of need with the theory being you can trade that best player for what you need.
Coyles cap hit is to high. The sabres probably say no. But this team could literally trade all thier draft picks and coyle for mitts as i skipped the whole year. And its only 2 years so its not unbelievable.
